Overview

When it comes to the DB7 GT we can't help but think about Vanessa Williams' 1991 pop ballad “Save the Best for Last” because that's exactly what Aston Martin did in 2002 with the final evolution of its venerable grand tourer. Using the same DB7 design language that would go on to endure for many more successful years to come the GT took the already accomplished V12-equipped DB7 Vantage and cranked all of the dials up a notch, transforming the car into what it arguably should have been from the very beginning.

Featuring myriad performance tweaks and refinements the DB7 GT gained an extra 15 horses as well as a 20% improvement in chassis stiffness over the standard Vantage thanks to a reworked front subframe and upgraded suspension, making it a much more responsive and stable machine and despite the car being produced in incredibly limited numbers, critics and buyers alike were suitably impressed. All-in just 191 manual coupes and 112 GTA automatics were produced making it an especially rare and sought after model in today's used market.

This particular model is a GT and so comes equipped with the six-speed manual gearbox delivering all 435bhp to the rear wheels. Presenting in superb shape throughout the car is wholly original and has covered a mere 23K miles since new. Complete with excellent main dealer and specialist service history it's a fine example of one of Aston Martin's most celebrated and indeed exclusive models that has clearly been meticulously maintained throughout its life.

Summary

Harder edged and more involving the GT is the tip of the spear when it comes to Aston Martin's DB7 yet it still retains the requisite levels of comfort and sophistication that we've come to expect from a luxury grand tourer. An especially rare model the GT is the DB7 the way it was meant to be and this particularly fine, well-maintained and low mileage example is a bit of a peach.
