The reason for sale also makes complete sense. The previous owner had mainly been using it for short electric-only trips, which is exactly where the P400e setup works so well. Their use has now changed back towards longer journeys, with a Porsche available for that side of things, so the Defender simply no longer fits their routine in the same way. It has not come to us because it disappointed; it has come to us because circumstances changed. We have always liked the P400e drivetrain in Range Rover products, but this is the first time we have had the chance to properly spend time with one in a Defender. It suits the car better than you might expect. Around town it is quiet, smooth and effortless, while Land Rover quoted up to around 30 miles of electric-only range when new, which can be very useful for local journeys. When the petrol and electric systems work together, it still feels strong and responsive, so it has not lost the proper Defender usability. A major point on this example is the air suspension. Many Defenders sit on conventional springs, but the air suspension gives this one a more comfortable, adaptable feel and adds to the sense that it has been specified properly. It still has the tough, upright Defender character, but with a more polished drive that suits daily use far better. The specification is very strong, with adaptive cruise control, memory seats for the front passengers, Meridian sound system, lane assist, digital dashboard, black headliner, tilt and slide panoramic roof, 360-degree camera with 3D view, wade sensing and heated seats. It also has rear seat entertainment screens fitted to the back of the front seats, with HDMI and USB inputs. They are aftermarket, but neatly done and a useful feature, so we are leaving them with the car. The service history consists of Land Rover main dealer care followed by our own specialist preparation. Land Rover carried out the early recorded maintenance, and we have completed an oil service, inspection, pollen filter, brake fluid and wipers ready for the next owner. Condition is very good overall, the interior presents lovely, it sits on matching Nexen tyres all round, and the discs and pads are in good order.
