Description

One of the last of only 200 examples built between 1964 and 1966 and what a beautiful car it is, Pininfarina really were at the top of their game in this era, a truly evocative pure shape with not a bad angle or unnecessary fussy detail. The dark Scuro blue coachwork with black leather interior shows the car off perfectly and it is in great condition throughout with a substantial history and the all-important Ferrari Classiche Certification.
Chassis #07631 was completed at Maranello in November 1965 and then shipped to New York the following year to the order of Ferrari main agent Luigi Chinetti Motors.
The 275 remained in the US with several known Ferrari enthusiasts and then returned to Europe twenty years later following its purchase by Oldtimer Garage in Bern, Switzerland.
Several European enthusiasts enjoyed the car as detailed on file until 1993 when it entered the UK for full restoration by well-known Ferrari specialists, Terry Hoyle Limited. The original car was found to be very sound following its dismantling as illustrated in many photographs on file. These also show the extensive nature of the restoration and the full rebuild of all mechanical elements.
Following this work the 275 returned to mainland Europe in the hands of a devoted German enthusiast, the car eventually finding its way to German classic dealer Axel Schutte, known for buying only the finest examples. He sold the car in 2013 to a Dutch enthusiast who maintained it to a very high standard with many invoices on file from Dutch Ferrari specialist Italauto.
In 2016 the Ferrari was sold by London dealer Charles Prince to a well-known Irish Ferrari collector who continued to maintain it well as noted in further invoicing on file.
He retained the car until 2022 before selling it via a London based Ferrari dealer to the last owners who were looking for a fine 275 GTS having enjoyed a drive in a friend’s example.
Since purchase the Ferrari has been used sparingly in appropriate weather, it has been carefully stored when not in use and maintained perfectly with GTO Engineering and DK Engineering as noted in several large invoices on file. The car was stripped and repainted several years ago to the highest standards and any external trim found wanting was refurbished or replaced as necessary.
This is a 275 GTS that wants for nothing, upon inspection it is in truly exceptional order with fantastic detail. On the road it does not disappoint, indeed, it really is a delight, the fabulous V12 engine firing cleanly and fuss-free from cold, providing that wonderfully enigmatic soundtrack throughout the drive. It remains fast with great torque throughout the rev range and the tautness of the chassis and feedback not to mention the fine visibility inspires such confidence. A real occasion and certainly a car you will always look back at.
