Finished in the highly desirable and iconic French Racing Blue, this car stands out in a market where finding a low-owner, mechanically standard, and properly maintained 197 is becoming nearly impossible.

The car even carries it’s original selling dealer, Perry’s, number plates front and rear.

Currently showing only 90,680 miles, this vehicle has been exceptionally well cared for, benefiting from specialist maintenance and large expenditure on the most critical Renaultsport preventative items.

Provenance & History

• 1st Owner: 3 years of ownership.

• 2nd Owner: 12 years long-term ownership (comprehensive service invoices from 2012 to 2021). It was eventually sent to auction due to change of circumstance I am told.

• Auction & Storage: The auction house accidentally registered the car to themselves (adding a keeper to the logbook). It was then purchased by an enthusiast who kept it unused, before passing it to me.

• Total Keepers: Shows 4 previous owners, though effectively only 3 private driving homes from new.

Mechanical & Specialist Maintenance

This Clio has spent its entire life handled by just three garages: The official Renault dealership Perry’s who also supplied the car new, one independent garage, and renowned Renaultsport specialists Two Techs during my ownership.

The car has been kept in excellent mechanical health at great expense. MOT runs to March 2027.

Major work in my 2 year ownership includes:

• Recent (5 weeks / 300 miles ago): Service, new air filter, and rear wiper blade.

• 5 months ago: New Bosch 075 12v battery

• 1 Year / 3,000 miles ago: Service.

• 5,000 miles ago: The critical 197 weak points resolved—New 3rd-gear gearbox synchros, brand new clutch, new front subframe, and new slave cylinder.

• 2 Years / 7,000 miles ago: Major service including Cambelt, Water Pump, and Aux Belt kit. Also fitted with new spark pugs, a new front suspension spring, a new lambda sensor, a new rear-view mirror, a brand-new genuine key from Renault, and premium Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres.

Exterior & Interior Condition

The car presents beautifully as a highly usable, genuine modern classic in this condition:

• Paintwork: Treated to a professional ceramic coating 2 years ago (still showing excellent water-beading performance this week as pictured). Black trims are not discoloured, faded or damaged at the front and rear of the car.

• Wheels & Brakes: Factory alloy wheels finished in the Clio F1 Edition colour, beautifully contrasting against red Brembo calipers. Brand new front and rear brake discs and pads were fitted 6,000 miles ago.

• Interior: Genuine Renaultsport Recaro seats, original radio unit, headlining with no sagging and 1 year old genuine Renaultsport floor mats. Working air conditioning and all the electric features work correctly, cruise control, lights, traction control, windows, mirrors etc. The 197 steering wheels notoriously suffer from delamination and colour loss, this steering wheel has been professionally refinished in Alcantara as pictured and provides a wonderful feel.

• Originality: Comes complete with its original factory book pack and all booklets, the original tyre repair kit and wallet, factory tools in the boot, and the often-missing parcel shelf in the boot. The original Renault Assistance sticker is still on the sun visor, the ELF oil sticker on the rear window and the original Renault Vehicle Inspection Record sticker is still affixed to the battery cover.

Age-Related Imperfections: There are a few minor cosmetic blemishes as to be expected with this ago of vehicle; however there are no dents, dings or scuffs and the condition respective of age and mileage covered really is excellent.

This is a beautifully maintained driver's car that has had all the expensive, model-specific jobs completed by an expert specialist, finished in the right colour with the most desirable seat choice.
