⭕ VEHICLE SUMMARY
The Alfa Romeo GT Junior 1600 is celebrated for its communicative chassis, mechanical symphony, and nimble handling.
As part of the iconic Alfa Romeo 105 Series, the GT Junior belongs to one of the most significant and influential sports car families in automotive history. Introduced in the 1960s, it completely redefined the formula for affordable high-performance vehicles, and cemented Alfa Romeo as a premium engineering powerhouse. By packaging world-class engineering into an affordable mass-production car, it proved that an everyday coupe could handle, accelerate, and sound like a genuine racing car.
It delivered so much excitement behind the wheel that it demanded matching aesthetics and design purity. Styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro during his time at Bertone, it is universally admired for its proportions and minimalist elegance.
Technically advanced for its era, it featured servo-assisted disc brakes all round. Its wishbone front and coil-sprung live axle rear suspension perfectly harnessed the communicative chassis, mechanical symphony, and nimble handling to establish it as a formidable competition car.
Introduced towards the end of the 105 Series production run, the GT Junior 1600 model originally served as a tax-break variant, offering twin-cam thrills with economical benefits - but still delivering a sporting, stylish car with exceptional handling. Highly original cars are difficult to find, as owners frequently upgraded parts over the years. Trade Classics now offers you the chance to secure a well-loved, low-mileage, unmolested example in its intended left-hand drive layout.
Formerly owned by an Italian ambassador, this highly original 1972 GT Junior 1600 was purchased by the current owner in 1994. It spent decades in a warm, dry Mediterranean climate before the owner imported it into the UK in 2015. Believed to have had just two owners from new, the car is also believed to have covered only 49,673 kilometres.
This solid example is finished in grey with a black vinyl interior, and while it would benefit from a few cosmetic improvements, it remains complete and has received around £2,300 worth of work since 2015. Having recently undergone a light engine and brake re-commissioning, it comes complete with its V5, a collection of invoices, and its original owner handbook - with its last service carried out around 200 kilometres ago.
