Overview

The Chevrolet Bel Air is an iconic and wonderfully ostentatious coupe historically more suited to cruising down the Sunset Strip than kicking up plumes of dust on a rally stage. But this is no ordinary Bel Air: gone is the relaxed, wafty handling and lazy V8 of the original '55 car in favour of a more potent 5.7-litre crate engine mated to a Tremec six-speed manual gearbox and all of the necessary rally accoutrements necessary for historic motorsport, including uprated suspension, brakes and fuel system, safety harnesses and roll bar, Corbeau bucket seats and Brantz timers.

Purpose-built and extensively modified in 2018 in order to compete in the Himalayan Challenge, this Bel Air has been transformed into a hugely capable machine yet still retains its 1950s charm courtesy of that archetypal two-tone India Ivory and Harvest Gold colour scheme with contrasting green interior.

Imported from the USA and fully UK registered, this Chevrolet Bel Air comes with all of the necessary documentation as well as invoices for work done in the vendor's ownership and is reportedly driving well.  Presenting in excellent condition throughout along with a light and charming, well-earned patina, the car looks every bit the '50s icon, with just enough subtle exterior rally touches to hint at its sporting aspirations.

Coming to market fresh from a coolant system overhaul and with an advisory-free MOT under its belt, as well as a Bel Air-branded indoor car cover, this rally-proven Chevy is ready for its next adventure.
