1972 VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE

1972 VW Beetle 1200, Pearl White, which was fully restored in 2016 by professionals working meticulously to produce an outstanding result. I have a memory stick with over 1500 images fully documenting the work carried out. The car has travelled just 1700 miles since then and garaged at all other times. I have bills totalling over £50,000 evidencing the restoration cost!

The car was restored as a labour of love by a guy who them moved abroad and wasn’t able to take it with him. Practically everything is new with a few original ‘touch point’ parts retained.

As you might imagine, this wasn’t a patch up and sell ‘restoration’. The car underwent a chassis off, complete strip down including Envirostrip to bare metal on the chassis and shell and then underwent thorough restoration with ever trace of rust removed followed by £2,000 underbody respray using a high quality white anti-stone chip paint. The car was finished in Pearl White paint at a cost of £6k. It is totally unmarked.

A brand new VEGE 1200 engine was fitted, with new carburettor and fuel pump, fuel hoses, clips, exhaust, distributor cap, leads and battery.

All new running gear, suspension, brakes, heat exchangers, heater tubes etc. New carpets, seats recovered as original, new headlining and sound deadening. Genuine VW hubcaps and five new Vredstein classic tyres. The car is also fitted with a retro radio that has Bluetooth, hands free (but you won’t hear anything!) And music streaming. I’m pretty sure I also have the original radio.

I bought this in 2019 and have put around 1,000 miles on it since. Love to keep it but, I could do with the space for other things.

Needless to say, it isn’t worth anything near the restoration cost but it is a cut above most other restorations. I’m asking £11,000 for the car.
