Powered by a naturally-aspirated 2.3-litre Duratec engine that was heavily tuned by Cosworth. The bespoke Cosworth build included forged rods and pistons and a dry-sump lubrication system. Power Output: 280 bhp, Normally aspirated, Weight of Car 540 kg. The Cosworth unit was a masterpiece for the initial production run from 2011–2014. BAC factory moved onto a 2.5 litre engine, however the Cosworth engined BAC Mono's are rare and much sought after with only 37 built.
No.3 of just 37 Cosworth BAC cars produced
The Mono; a lightweight, ultra-high performance, road legal supercar aimed at drivers who seek a purist driving experience and for whom design, engineering excellence and performance are of paramount importance,
When the BAC Mono was first launched Car Magazine wrote, “The BAC Mono managed to set a time around Anglesey’s Coastal circuit faster than the Radical RXC Turbo 500 and McLaren P1 GTR managed.“The view is incredible, framed by the sharp edges of the front wings and unencumbered by anything like an aero screen. It focuses the mind like nothing else. The Cosworth-developed 2.3-litre Duratec engine produces 280bhp and it buzzes and vibrates through the chassis and seat.” The Mono weighs just 540kg, meaning it offers a supreme power-to-weight ratio, and gets from 0-60mph in just 2.8 seconds and has a top speed of 170mph. Max torque of 206 lb/ft @ 6000 rpm.
The British manufacture BAC (Briggs Automotive Company) was founded in 2009 by brothers Ian Briggs and Neill Briggs. For Neill, BAC is the realisation of a life-long ambition to develop innovative vehicles that show what is possible when we question and challenge convention. The single central-seat gave the designers and project engineers the ultimate blank canvas on which to assemble their dream. The organic, enclosed front and exposed mechanical rear typifies the unique appearance of Mono. The design aesthetic is intended to combine sculpted, sleek, organic forms to provide an emotional, human connection juxtaposing the technical, mechanical elements of the car.
While this vision runs throughout Mono’s appearance it was fundamental to the designers that form follow function on all aspects of the car. Above all else, Mono has been designed to optimise the driving position – in the middle, central to the wheels, and the balance of the car. Mono is constructed using high-strength carbon fibre composite around a steel safety cell. The cell is designed to offer maximum safety featuring a FIA compliant steel rollover structure, a sophisticated side impact structure and a front carbon crash box.
Coupled to that 2.3 litre engine is 6-speed sequential gearbox from Hewland. Suspension is a fully-adjustable pushrod suspension with damping elements made by SACHS Racing. Fitted with 295mm ventilated discs, AP Racing brakes provide stopping power. Limited slip differential is standard.
Completely road legal and track legal.
