Nearly tax free 😁

I’ve recently recommissioned this lovely red wedge, the fastest colour by all accounts and with the 4.5 JE Engineering engine, it’s pretty damn rapid whatever the colour!

Below is a list of work completed over the past 9 months whilst getting the car put back together.

Red 450i wedge

Chassis in good condition, cleaned back both outriggers and painted with chassis hard wearing new paint

All suspension arm, top and bottom swinging arms at the front, and rear A frames removed, powder coated and fitted with new poly bushes and new bolts before refitting

New adjustable front and rear GAZ shocks and springs £550

New steve Heath adjustable rose jointed rear tie bars

Front tie bars powder coated and poly bushes fitted

Roll bar painted and poly bushes fitted and drop links fitted with new bushes

New uprated front brakes, Hi-spec red four pot billet callipers and larger vented discs and new pads £650

New gates fuel hoses on the flow and return, new fuel pump, new swirl pot and new fuel filter

New windscreen washer pump

Door window frames x4 powder coated with new stainless bolts fitted

All of the old foam underlay removed and a whole new antique red carpet set from Coverdale fitted onto brand new foam underlay throughout £650

A complete new cream with red piping, leather interior fitted including seats, door cards and dash, this was renewed by the previous owner and never fitted

Seats are from what looks like a chimaera but can’t be sure but they fit and move so all good

New complete set of digital dash clocks including GPS Speedo fitted into a carbon wrapped dash facia and black carbon effect wrapped stereo binnacle and matching canon wrapped glove box

All binnacle switches stripped and cleaned and working

1980s Sony stereo fitted with new pioneer speakers to the front and MB quart rear 6x9s

The engine is a built JE engineering 4.5 engine producing 254 bhp on rolling road read out, to buy this spec now would cost over 5k on its own, and this was fitted around 2007, around two years before the car was taken off the road for restoring.

Engine has had a full service, new plugs and oil and filter

OZ split rim alloys in good condition, with all four centre caps and four new Toyo proxes 225 x 50 x 15 tyres. £500

Power bulge in the bonnet to accommodate the JE 4.5 engine

New door seals all round with matching red flock

New earth straps fitted

New coil

New gas struts on the boot and bonnet

New windscreen washer pump

New rear number plate lights

VR1 engine oil and new oil filter

Roof section has a new cream lining.

Rear spoiler and 450i decals

Spare space saver wheel

“Poledriver” decals from previous well known owner

Wired in fan bypass switch

I am awaiting some parts to arrive to finish off some minor details, windscreen washer pump, steering cowl, roof seal, bonnet and boot new gas struts, fitting new lift motor for the light pod, resistors for the fuel and oil senders, window runners to be adjusted, four wheel alignment

Will have a new MOT once these small items are finished

Full polish and detail

The car will be completed by the end of July but feel free to make an offer and take the car now if you want to do some little bits on your new car

None of the above stops the car from running and driving and the work for the MOT should be completed next week

The old clock shows 64,000 miles.
