Description
The Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale is widely regarded as one of the most significant road cars to leave Maranello during the modern era. Developed directly from Ferrari's one make Challenge race programme, the Challenge Stradale was conceived as the ultimate expression of the 360 Modena, lighter, sharper and engineered with an uncompromising focus on driver engagement. In doing so, it established the blueprint for every lightweight V8 Ferrari halo model that followed, including the 430 Scuderia, 458 Speciale and 488 Pista.
Presented here is a beautifully preserved 2004 Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale showing just 24,250 miles from new. Finished in the highly desirable Rosso Scuderia, the colour introduced by Ferrari to celebrate the success of the Scuderia Ferrari Formula One team, this example wears one of the marque's most iconic finishes. Rosso Scuderia has become synonymous with Ferrari's lightweight special series models and remains one of the most sought after colours amongst collectors today.
Adding further significance is the presence of the factory racing stripe. Available as an expensive factory option, only a relatively small proportion of Challenge Stradales were specified with the original painted stripe, making it one of the defining features collectors actively seek. Its inclusion immediately distinguishes the car as one of the most desirable specifications produced.
With total production believed to be approximately 1,288 examples worldwide, fewer than the Ferrari F40, and with only around 128 right hand drive cars produced, the Challenge Stradale is considerably rarer than many enthusiasts realise. Its scarcity, coupled with its historical importance within Ferrari's model lineage, has seen demand continue to strengthen as collectors increasingly recognise its place amongst Maranello's greatest driver's cars.
Powered by Ferrari's naturally aspirated 3.6 litre V8 producing 425bhp, paired with the lightning fast F1 transmission, carbon ceramic brakes and extensive weight saving measures, the Challenge Stradale delivers an analogue driving experience that remains every bit as captivating today as it was upon launch. Every input feels mechanical, connected and purposeful, qualities that have become increasingly difficult to find in modern performance cars.
Accompanied by a comprehensive history file and presented in exceptional condition throughout, this example represents an increasingly rare opportunity to acquire one of Ferrari's most celebrated modern classics. As the car that began Ferrari's now legendary lightweight V8 Special Series lineage, the 360 Challenge Stradale occupies a pivotal place in the marque's history and continues to be recognised as one of the finest analogue Ferraris ever built.
Offered with a current MOT and ready for its next custodian, this is an opportunity to acquire not simply a remarkable Ferrari, but one of the defining collector cars of the modern era.
