⭕ THE SALE
This 1963 Ford Consul Capri GT is currently in a 2-week auction on our website. This is our guide price, i.e. what we think the car is worth in the current market, however, the reserve will be lower. You can read much more about the car, see of hundreds of detailed photos and videos of it, and ask the seller any questions on our website: we can't add links on this platform, so please search for "Trade Classics" on Google.
⭕ VEHICLE SUMMARY
Emerging from Halewood in Merseyside, the GT version is one of just ~2,002 produced.
When new, the Consul Capri provided British buyers with genuine glamour and glitz; an American-inspired car with a package suited for those who wished to turn heads, on a manageable scale and with the dependability of well-proven mechanics. Released in 1962, the Consul Capri was placed in the Ford line-up as a stylish and compact car, with genuine exclusivity. Sadly, the fast-paced changing fads of 1960s car styling were unkind to the Consul Classic, as the car, with its flamboyant fins, heavy chrome trim and curved screens, looked passé by the end of the decade, but the Consul Capri's snapshot of the jet era looks positively stunning today.
One criticism was the mediocre power. The Consul Capri was really built for modest cruising and being admired, and some felt the original engines were not quick enough. However, this 1963 example has been rebored to 1558cc, is fully balanced, fitted with a fully gas-flowed cylinder head and a fast Road Kent camshaft, quashing the original rumours that it was not fast enough.
Owned for the past 44 years, this fully restored 1963 Consul Capri GT has been a labour of love for Brian, who has thoroughly enjoyed carrying out the restoration and taking it to many shows to display his extremely well-executed restoration.
