EXTERIOR
Finished in Ivory White with contrasting black trim and removable targa roof panel, this 914/6 presents beautifully throughout. The GT-inspired bodywork gives the car a noticeably more purposeful stance than a standard 914, with the flared arches and wider track perfectly complementing the compact mid-engined proportions.
Lightweight fibreglass bonnet and engine lid panels form part of the M471 specification, whilst subtle competition-inspired details further reinforce the car’s historic rally credentials. The paintwork presents very well throughout and both the front luggage compartment and rear engine bay display the same level of care and attention seen across the rest of the car.
Overall, the exterior strikes an excellent balance between period competition appearance and clean, understated Porsche styling.
INTERIOR
The cabin has been carefully configured for historic rally use whilst retaining much of the original 914/6 character. FIA-certified Sparco Pro 2000 fibreglass bucket seats are fitted alongside both TRS five-point harnesses and conventional three-point inertia seatbelts, whilst a bespoke Custom Cages roll cage provides additional chassis rigidity and occupant protection.
Great attention has been paid to usability and comfort. A heated windscreen, black flocked dashboard, warm-air heating system and fresh carpeting make the car perfectly suited to long-distance touring and competition use alike. The original 914/6 steering wheel and dashboard instruments remain in place, complemented by additional toggle switches and a TB&C 600-series racing pedal assembly.
The co-driver’s environment has been equally well considered, featuring a Brantz International Pro 3 rally computer with remote controls and separate driver display, a dash-mounted Tag Heuer stopwatch, integrated map lights, alloy footrest and Peltor intercom system. Thoughtful storage solutions have also been incorporated throughout the cabin.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Power comes from a twin-plug 2.4-litre flat-six engine running on the correct Weber carburettors. The engine has benefitted from a fully documented rebuild by Prill Porsche Classic and features a number of carefully selected upgrades designed to enhance both reliability and performance.
Specification includes Mahle Motorsport pistons and barrels, upgraded oil filtration, proper air filtration and full road silencing, resulting in a wonderfully tractable and responsive powerplant ideally suited to both spirited road driving and historic rally competition. The torque-rich flat-six perfectly complements the lightweight chassis, delivering the engaging driving experience for which the 914/6 has become renowned.
Power is transmitted through a new Sachs clutch and a freshly rebuilt, correct original 914/6 gearbox. Extensive engineering work extends beyond the drivetrain, with aerospace-quality wiring looms and electronics installed throughout, bespoke underbody protection fitted front and rear, and specially constructed exhaust headers routed above the driveshafts to improve both ground clearance and serviceability.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The car sits on a superb set of Fuchs alloy wheels which perfectly complement the GT-inspired appearance. Their classic design remains synonymous with Porsche’s competition heritage and suits the character of the car exceptionally well.
Wrapped in Dunlop Sport tyres, the wheel and tyre package provides the correct period appearance whilst delivering excellent road manners and confidence-inspiring grip. Combined with the wider M471 GT specification track, the result is a purposeful stance entirely befitting the car’s competition-derived credentials.
HISTORY FILE
Starting life as an original Porsche 914/6 it was first supplied to the United States in 1970. Selected specifically for its originality and structural integrity before being completely dismantled and rebuilt. The objective of the build was to recreate Porsche’s highly desirable M471 GT specification using as many genuine New Old Stock Porsche components as possible, resulting in a car that closely mirrors the specification of the factory 914/6 GT competition cars campaigned by Porsche during the early 1970s.
Accompanying the car is an extensive history file documenting what is understood to be a comprehensive bare-shell rebuild and conversion undertaken by respected Porsche specialists Ramsport Engineering. The file also contains documentation relating to the fully rebuilt twin-plug 2.4-litre flat-six engine by Prill Porsche Classic, incorporating Mahle Motorsport pistons and barrels, upgraded filtration systems and a new Sachs clutch paired to a rebuilt original 914/6 gearbox.
A substantial collection of invoices, build records, servicing records and maintenance documentation accompanies the car, evidencing the significant investment made in creating what is undoubtedly one of the most comprehensively prepared historic rally-specification 914/6s available today.
