EXTERIOR

Finished in sublime Milano Red, this impressive UK-supplied DC2 Type R presents a rare opportunity to acquire one of the most revered front-wheel-drive performance cars of all time. Entirely unmodified, the car looks superb with a remarkable amount of its original paint still present, testament to just how well this one has been kept. The body is straight with excellent panel fitment, and the factory Enkei alloy wheels are unmarked. The exterior trim and glass are also in amazing condition including the headlights which are clear and haze-free. With only 500 examples supplied new in the UK, surviving original cars have become increasingly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts alike.

INTERIOR

The interior space perfectly reflects Honda’s motorsport-inspired philosophy. Every element is designed with the driver in mind, from the low seating position and titanium gear knob to the simple, tactile controls that have become a hallmark of the Type R experience. Presented in excellent original condition, the interior displays minimal wear including the deeply bolstered Recaro seats which are unfaded and damage-free. The condition throughout is entirely consistent with the car’s low mileage and careful long-term ownership. Everything works as it should including the air conditioning (a factory cost option), the original Honda cassette player, and electric aerial.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Celebrated for its free-revving character and sharp throttle response, Honda's legendary 1.8-litre DOHC VTEC engine feels as potent as ever in this example. Paired with a precise five-speed manual gearbox and factory limited-slip differential, the result is a driving experience that remains almost unmatched for involvement and precision.

Reading through the extensive history this example has clearly been maintained to a great standard. It boasts a recent service and brake fluid change, timing belt replacement, front brake discs and pads, and a complete £2k overhaul of the air conditioning system by our trusted AC specialists ensuring the car is ready to be enjoyed immediately. Tight, responsive, and very well balanced, it serves as a reminder of why the DC2 continues to be regarded as one of the greatest driver's cars ever produced.

More than two decades after its introduction, the DC2 Type R continues to set the benchmark for analogue performance cars, its reputation only growing stronger with time. This particular example is one of only 500 officially supplied to the UK. It has covered just 64k miles from new in the hands of only 3 owners, the current registered keeper having acquired it almost 26 years ago. With the car is an impressive service record stamped across two maintenance booklets and complemented by a thick raft of invoices.
