Description

This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Iconic Sale at the BRDC Classic 2026 - Collectors' Cars on Saturday the 25th of July, The Wing, Silverstone Circuit, NN12 8TN.

Offered here is a very well-considered and expertly executed GTAm re-creation finished in classic Alfa Rosso. According to documents within the history file, the concept evolved over several years into the impressive Alfa Romeo presented today. The project started with a low-owner, HPI-clear, UK-supplied right-hand drive 1971 Alfa Romeo 1750 GTV whose long-term owner initially developed the car for sprint racing and hill climbs, whilst retaining full road registration so it could be enjoyed both on the road and in occasional competition.

The bodyshell was carefully modified using lightweight panels to closely replicate the appearance of the modified GTAm competition cars of the late 1960s and early 1970s with works completed by the highly regarded Alfa Panels workshop. Handling has been upgraded with an Alfaholics 'mild' race suspension kit comprising Gaz adjustable dampers, Alfaholics Blue springs and numerous lightweight suspension components. For additional rigidity and safety, the shell is fitted with a full OMP roll cage (with the door bars currently removed), OMP bucket seats with harnesses, a lightweight race battery and flat-mounted battery tray. The cockpit is completed with VDO instruments, a Momo Prototipo steering wheel, tunnel-mounted switch panel, fire suppression system, power cut-off and Lexan sliding side windows.

Under the bonnet sits an overhauled 2.0-litre twin-cam Nord engine breathing through twin Dell'Orto carburettors, supplied by an Alfaholics 55-litre baffled aluminium fuel tank and exhaling through a full stainless-steel Alfaholics exhaust system. Cooling is provided by an uprated aluminium radiator, while ancillaries including the alternator, starter motor, water pump, clutch and hoses have been recently overhauled or replaced. Power is transmitted through an Alfaholics race limited-slip differential to a set of Compomotive GTAm wheels fitted with Dunlop tyres intended for track and competition use. Braking has also been comprehensively upgraded with new discs, recent pads, braided hoses and Alfaholics rear calipers and refurbished front calipers. The engine, gearbox and LSD were all filled with high quality Millers Racing oils as recommended by Alfaholics.

The quality of the build is fully supported by a comprehensive history file containing a substantial collection of invoices documenting the conversion, together with numerous MOT Certificates and supporting paperwork accumulated over many years.

In summary, this represents an excellent opportunity to acquire a classic Alfa Romeo that successfully captures the spirit and appearance of the period GTAm competition cars while retaining UK road registration. Built using many premium Alfaholics components and carefully developed throughout its life, it offers an exciting combination of fast road usability with the potential for hill climbs, sprint events or track days.
