Description
This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Classic Sale at CarFest 2026 on Saturday the 29th of August - Sunday the 30th of August, The Wing, Silverstone Circuit, NN12 8TN.
Introduced by BMW in 1955, the Italian-designed Isetta was produced under licence across several countries in the post-war years, its distinctive egg-shaped body and bubble-like windows giving rise to the term "bubble car"
Built on the South Coast in Brighton, UK-supplied, right-hand drive Isetta 300s of this type featured the single door hinged from the right, with the steering column moved across accordingly and a counterweight fitted to compensate for the change in weight distribution, along with Lucas electrics and Girling brakes in place of the German components used on continental-built cars.
This 1963 example is finished in a cheerful shade of Primrose Yellow and is propelled by the model's characteristic 298cc single-cylinder engine driving through a four-speed manual gearbox
‘271 TYA’ is supplied with an impressive history folder with numerous invoices totalling £3,840 worth of parts alongside images of the restoration, an Isetta restoration book and copies of the ‘Isetta Gazzette’ owners newsletter spanning the mid-2000s
Acquired by our vendor around two years ago, it has been fitted with a new exhaust and had the brakes stripped, inspected and rebuilt with new wheel cylinders and brake shoes
