1984 RENAULT 5GD TURBO

Designed and built by Alpine at their Dieppe factory on the Normandy coast, the Renault 5 Alpine Turbo – badged as the Gordini Turbo in the UK – was named in honour of Amédée Gordini, Renault’s legendary performance tuner

With just circa 13 known survivors currently registered in the UK, the model has become one of the rarest of the period

First registered in July 1984 this Gordini Turbo had covered 69,700 miles at the time of cataloguing

The silver (Argent) exterior is enhanced by red coachlines and the bespoke Gordini Turbo alloys, and the predominantly mustard-coloured interior is original and tidy

Recent maintenance includes a rebuilt carburettor, new rear suspension mounts. An engine rebuild in 2001 by Salv Sacco (Renault competition specialist), gearbox rebuild, new Garrett turbocharger from Turbo Technics, and a pre-heat system to aid cold starts

Supplied with the Bill of Sale from 1984, MOT Certificates, detailed history file with numerous receipts and invoices, both keys, original handbook, toolkit, and a matching Gordini alloy spare wheel
