Description

For sale is my Renaultsport Clio 200 Cup, in Glacier White with gold wheels, because I like gold wheels and got fed up with black.
Being the Cup model, Renault removed many of the luxuries found in the standard cars leaving you with:
Lowered Cup suspension
Quicker steering rack
Lightweight dashboard and door cards
Unpainted Manual mirrors and door strips - paint's heavy
No front fog lights
No rear headrests or split folding seat
A complete disregard for your passengers' comfort
Under the bonnet is Renaultsport's legendary 2.0-litre naturally aspirated engine, producing almost 200bhp through a six-speed manual gearbox. No turbochargers, no driving modes, no artificial engine noise pumped through the speakers.
Reliability? Let's get this out of the way.
Yes, it's French, your mates will tell you French cars are unreliable, and somebody will inevitably reference electrical gremlins within the first five minutes of viewing... myself included. Fortunately on the Cup you've got normal keys that go in the ignition, no buttons on the wheel apart from the horn, which they wired up to an asthmatic budgie (budgies are featherweight obviously), and as mentioned no front fogs - less to go wrong.
Besides, if reliability was all that mattered, we'd all be driving beige Corollas and discussing lawn fertiliser. Any tips for moss control btw?
The Good Bits
This one's been with me since Oct '21, and had both the swivel hubs replaced, along with cup springs and rear brake calipers, all standard parts.
Gearbox has been no problem
Summer tyres fitted, winters also thrown in.
Polishes up nicely for the shows
You don't see many on the road, well not up here anyway
The Bad Bits
There's always bad bits
It has a few age related marks, one on offside rear quarter, and back bumper has had a localised touch-up. Not guilty on both counts.
Timing belt was done before I bought it, so would be due next Sep/Oct
If has got the standard sport seats, not the Recaro CSs. They do the job.
They can be thirsty, I get around 33mpg, but I will sometimes drive like my 96yr old Mum so it is possible.
