Description
Launched in the April of 1994 to critical acclaim, the Ferrari F355 took the motoring world by storm with Jeremy Clarkson famously quoting it in 1996 as the “The greatest car in the world ever”.
Penned by Pininfarina, the F355 Berlinetta benefitted from over 1,800 hours in the wind tunnel ensuring that it not looked the part, but sported F1-inspired aerodynamics to keep it glued to the road. The engine was heavily revised from the 348 with displacement increasing from 3.4 litres to 3.5 litres and a new innovative five-valve per cylinder resulting in the highest power-to-displacement ratio of any naturally aspirated road car at the time. The results were 375bhp, 0-62mph in 4.7 seconds and redline at an eye-watering 8500rpm, all in harmony with an engine note like no other V8 supercar before it. Electronic adjustable dampers were also introduced and further improvements made to the handling and gearbox really set the F355 into a class of its own, and head and shoulder above its predecessor. Now 30 years on the F355 has cemented itself as one of the most important Ferraris of its generation, if not of all time. A truly superb modern classic that will benefit any collection.
