1986 PORSCHE 944

The 944 Turbo has become one of the most sought-after cars from Porsche’s transaxle era. With its balanced chassis, 220bhp turbocharged four-cylinder engine and everyday usability, it’s easy to see why good, original examples are becoming increasingly difficult to find.

This 1986 car has covered just 87,000 miles from new and spent over 30 years with its previous owner before joining a member of the Duke of London team.

Finished in Zermatt Silver with a Burgundy full leather interior, it’s a particularly smart colour combination that suits the shape well. The bodywork presents extremely well, with the common rust areas having already been addressed, while the interior is about as good as you’ll find. There are no cracked dashboards, sagging armrests or non-functioning digital clock displays, just a remarkably original cabin that has clearly been looked after throughout its life.

Earlier this year the car was awarded Winner of the Porsche Perfection Category at the 2026 London Concours, recognising both its originality and overall condition.

The history file is equally impressive, with a long record of maintenance carried out by Porsche Centre Bournemouth, respected Porsche specialists and, most recently, Duke of London.

* 12/06/2020 – 83,338 miles – Clutch master cylinder, clutch slave cylinder, centre exhaust mountings and speed sensors replaced – Porsche Centre Bournemouth

* 02/09/2019 – DME relay and ECU replaced

* 06/09/2017 – 82,911 miles – Turbocharger cooling pump replaced, steering column UJ, ignition switch and engine oil service – Porsche Centre Bournemouth

* 31/10/2016 – Distributor cap, rotor arm and HT leads replaced

* 14/08/2015 – 82,299 miles – Timing belt replacement and ABS hydraulic recommissioning – Porsche Centre Bournemouth

There is plenty more documented in the history file, showing consistent maintenance over many years rather than occasional major work.

The car sits on a matching set of nearly new Continental N-rated tyres and passed its MOT on 13th March 2026 with no advisories.

Included with the car are two keys, the original steering wheel, toolkit, jack, compressor and an excellent history file.

Finding a 944 Turbo that hasn’t been modified, neglected or restored beyond recognition is becoming increasingly difficult. This is a well-preserved, highly original example with sensible mileage, long-term ownership and a history that speaks for itself.
