Description
I know what you're thinking. "I'd love an electric car... but what if I run out of charge?"
Honestly? That's the first thing everyone says. Usually followed by someone in the office whose entire knowledge of EVs comes from a bloke on Facebook called Dave, who's never actually driven one but is somehow Britain's leading expert on them.
As someone who was exactly the same and has now been driving an EV for years, let me save you a lot of unnecessary worrying: you almost certainly won't run out of charge.
This one even comes with the three-pin "granny charger", so you can plug it in at home overnight while you're asleep. It's basically like charging your phone, except your phone doesn't weigh nearly two tonnes and take you to Tesco.
And if you do need to charge when you're out, they're absolutely everywhere now. Slow chargers, fast chargers, rapid chargers, ultra-rapid chargers... whatever sort of rush you're in, there's probably one that'll do the job. In reality, I hardly ever use public charging because, like most people, my life isn't one long road trip across Europe. It's work, home, Aldi, repeat. And I suspect yours isn't much different.
Even on those longer journeys, it's nowhere near the drama people make it out to be. Plug it in, nip to the loo, grab a coffee, spend an unnecessarily long time wandering around the M&S Food at the services convincing yourself £4.50 is a reasonable price for a bag of chocolate-covered pretzels... and by the time you're back, you've got enough charge to crack on.
As for this particular car, I genuinely think it's cracking value. It's had just one owner, comes with two keys and a full MG service history, and it's absolutely immaculate. Whoever had it before has clearly looked after it far better than most people look after themselves.
The spec's brilliant too. Sat nav, a 360-degree reverse camera, touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control, Bluetooth, climate control with air conditioning, keyless entry and start... honestly, it's got so much kit that if I listed every feature we'd both be bored by the end of it.
Then, before you drive away, we'll give it a fresh service and a brand-new MOT, and to top it all off it's still covered by MG's manufacturer warranty right through until 2030.
So if you've been curious about making the switch to electric but have been put off by all the myths, this could be the car that finally proves your neighbour Dave doesn't actually know everything.
