The Aston Martin DB4 GT Continuation
The early DB models, which were successful in motorsport as well as stopping bad guys, made a considerable contribution to the legendary car manufacturer from Great Britain. This was also the case when the DB4 GT won its first race at Silverstone in 1959 and continued to boost the brand's fame in subsequent races. By 1962, only 75 of the originally planned 100 units of the racing version of the road car had been built.
Many decades later, Aston Martin filled the production gap by completing the remaining 25 vehicles in 2019. This was not only done in the same factory, but also with the cooperation of some of the suppliers at the time. For example, the wire wheels came from Borrani and the leather from Connolly. The new editions were used to improve some of the weak points of the 50s car. Among other things, this led to more precise manufacturing thanks to modern production facilities, better thermals for the sixth cylinder and a left-hand twist in the chassis. Furthermore, the displacement of the six-cylinder in-line engine was increased from 3.7 liters to 4.2 liters, which boosted the power output to 350 hp. In addition, the non-road-legal Continuation, which was based on the Lightweight variant of the time, was given a roll cage, bucket seats and a wrapped fuel tank, which ensured greater safety. For more precise handling, rubber elements of the wheel suspension were replaced by steel connections. The entire production of a single vehicle took 4,500 hours of manual labor, which formed a considerable part of the new price of 1,800,000 euros net.
About the vehicle offered here:
The vehicle offered here is number 15 of the 25 examples ever built. Its story began two days before Christmas Eve in 2016 with the signing of the contract between the first and to this day only owner. Just under a year later, he finalised the historic configuration on 26 October 2017. The colour combination is reminiscent of the DB4 GT prototype presented in 1959 with chassis number DP199/1, which won its first race in the hands of Stirling Moss. In 2018, a full 59 years after the prototype, this DB4 GT Continuation was produced. Another year later, the time had finally come when the first owner took delivery of the vehicle on 17 June 2019. Since then, the vehicle has remained in the enthusiast's collection and was only presented to the public by Aston Martin for the 2024 Retro Classics motorshow in Stuttgart. With a total mileage of less than 100 KM, DB4 GT Continuation No. 15 is now for sale in absolutely mint condition. Our sales staff will be happy to answer any detailed questions you may have. Please note that vehicle viewings are only possible by prior appointment.
