Overview
Some cars are cult classics, others are heralded as icons of style or performance. Every now and then a car manages to transcend mere classic status, becoming something legendary. The Mk4 Supra is definitely one such car.
From blistering results on the race tracks of Japan in the 1990s to the massive pop-culture impact of its starring roles in the Fast & Furious franchise and Gran Turismo games, the Supra is recognised the world over as a hero of the JDM tuning scene. That unburstable 2JZ powertrain has rightly built a reputation for being a performance driver's dream, responding incredibly well to modification, being very capable of delivering performance north of 1,000bhp.
Of course, finding an example that's been well cared for, maintained correctly and modified sympathetically is not as easy as it sounds. There are a lot of 'home brew' big power Supras out there, which while admirable, may not be the ideal solution for anyone seeking repeatable performance and drivability.
Thankfully, the owner of this particular Supra has carefully and thoughtfully improved and maintained it over more than a decade. They haven't just turned the wick up on the boost and hoped for the best, they've upgraded the suspension, brakes, transmission, exhaust system and a host of other areas. And it's all been professionally done, by renowned tuners like SRD and Garage-D.
The upshot of this is a car that comfortably delivers c.400bhp at the wheels, while remaining reliable and drivable. Not something that can usually be said of many "big power" builds.
Make no mistake about it, all the work undertaken here has been completed to a very high standard, with the owner telling us they have taken a "no expense spared" approach to the car. You can certainly see that in the results.
Presented in excellent condition overall, with a great service record and fine specification, if you're in the market for a truly iconic modern classic that also delivers one hell of a shove in the back, then step this way.
