Description
2003 Vauxhall VX220 Turbo
This is quite a special VX220 turbo - it was originally an ex-press car then, was purchased by a Vauxhall dealership owner. It benefits from having factory extras such as the internal carpet touring kit, ‘Turbo’ cill plates, factory fitted drilled front discs and colour matched hardtop (with VX220 bag). The car featured in Classic Car magazine and original photos can be found of the car shortly after its release. When I purchased the car, I was new to VX220s so I took it to Back on Track in Guildford who gave it a full check over and confirmed it was all as it should be, I have since had it serviced (including geometry setup) by a lotus specialist (Stephan at Analogue Automotive) and more recently, Courtney sport - both companies confirmed that it is all up together and a good example of a VX220.
The car has a fully stamped service history booklet that shows 23 oil changes! - despite only having 31k miles, it has been serviced every single year, the MOT history of the car is also amazing with not a single advisory showing. She has had 4 owners (including me) but please bear in mind that the first owner brought it back from the 2nd owner so technically, it’s only had 3 owners. I have kept it garaged and have only used it in dry weather.
I took it to Courtney sport in October of last year for a stage 1 remap to help smooth out the power delivery and for peace of mind that the engine is all as it should be - the car now makes 230hp which, for me, is plenty for a small lightweight car.
In my ownership I have addressed a couple of small things like changing the tyres (the old Bridgestone tyres had plenty of tread left but were 10 years old) to Yokohama tyres (approx 300 miles ago) plus I have the wheels professionally refurbished by ACC in Passfield as some of the paint was bubbling. I have also upgraded the stereo to a more modern touch screen head unit that can offer android auto or carplay (good for music streaming and maps).
Condition wise, the yellow paintwork is really good and looks amazing with only some small areas of unavoidable stonechips around the front and unfortunately some osmosis near the rear spoiler which is annoyingly common but no blistering through the paintwork - the interior is really clean and everything works as it should. When I purchased the car, I paid for a copy of a vehicle report and all came back clear - no previous reports of damage. It was on a private number plate but that is because it was a press car (from what I understand, all press cars had VXL ending number plates)
I am only selling her due to wanting to get back onto a motorbike and I cannot justify having both - I know I will miss the VX!
Please note that I have priced her keenly as I would ideally like a quick sale - I know that she is a very good car so I am not willing to take any silly offers. Unfortunately no test drives (unless you have payment in full with you) but can take you out as a passenger if you are a serious buyer. The car will not be held without a deposit.
