Description

2004 Lamborghini Gallardo 5.0 Manual.
For sale is my beautiful 2004 Lamborghini Gallardo 5.0 , presented in the launch spec Giallo Midas pearl paint with black leather (+ yellow stitching) interior, with the all important 3-pedal ‘gated’ manual gearbox.
Where can I start with this car. It’s been nothing short of an absolute dream come true to own, and has given me lots and lots of enjoyment in the time I’ve owned it. It’s been completely reliable, and I’ve used it at every opportunity. From just commuting to taking it to events/shows etc, it makes every drive an event. It’s given me some fantastic experiences that I’ll never forget (like being invited to drive around the Top Gear test track for a filming opportunity), and will probably go down as my favourite car I’ve ever owned.
I’ve done a heap of maintenance and small restoration jobs, as I’m a pretty ‘proactive’ car owner and get my enjoyment from knowing the car is right and looks well looked after. I’ve spent thousands just recently (tyres, suspension, brakes), and the car in general hasn’t gone without anything it’s needed.
The same can be said for the cars previous owners generally, as the service history is complete bar a few gaps where the MOT history shows the car was off of the road for the year. The original service book is filled, so a new one was sourced by the last owner and continued on from that.
The car is stock other than a genuine Tubi exhaust and Larini sport cats. The car was decatted when I bought it and had been for most of its life I was told, so there’s no damage from the notoriously problematic stock cats.
The exhaust setup on this car is generally regarded as the best for note/sound, and I wholeheartedly agree. The sound is simply sublime without being awfully loud at idle or around town (unless you want it to be!). The sound in higher rev ranges and under load could wake the dead. It’s incredible. These 5.0 ‘pre LP’ Lamborghini engined cars are in a class of their own for sound.
Condition wise, the car presents very well but does have a handful of blemishes like you would expect for a 23 year old car. However, it’s a lot cleaner and better looking than a good amount of ‘low miles’ cars I’ve seen!
Bodywork is generally very good. The colour is fantastic, it all matches nicely with no obvious repairs, and the trims/rubbers and grilles etc are all in great condition.
Interior is in good condition but does suffer with a bit of the ‘shiny leather’ having been used. All of the matte grey painted interior parts have been professionally refinished, as well as the black ‘soft touch’ coatings which have been stripped and refinished in an OE style black. The seats are nice and still supportive. Electric adjust all works well. The drivers seat has some loose stitching and is a little baggy looking on the base. Doorcards have the usual Gallardo ‘wrinkled’ upper sections.
Dashboard mint, all instruments mint and free of scratches/damage, carpets great, headliner (black alcantara) also.
Switchgear shows some wear but all works fine.
Lifeline handheld polished fire extinguisher fitted on rear shelf, superleggera style!
Air conditioning and heating/blower system all works well.
Kenwood DAB/carplay screen fitted in dash. This is a great upgrade and giving the car modern wireless CarPlay/android auto makes it much nicer on a longer drive. The standard MMI radio unit is included should you want to revert to stock.
Engine is super sweet and always runs lovely. It’s never given me any misfire or non start issues. It’s simply always sounded great, gone great and never produced any smoke or issues. It doesn’t seem to consume any oil either, at least not a noticeable amount. Oil temp and coolant temp always stable.
Gearbox is great. Shifting can feel very ‘mechanical’ which is just part of the exposed gate system, but is smooth and works as you’d expect. Gives a lovely ‘click clack’ sound when changing gear. It’s quite unforgiving and makes you realise why a vast majority of these were sold with the e-gear option, as you have to know what you’re doing to get the most out of this car!
Clutch was last replaced in 2019 if I remember right (I will check history for certain asap, as I know there is an invoice for one). This feels fine and hasn’t given me any symptoms of wanting replacement anytime soon.
Suspension, brakes and running gear all feel fantastic. Brakes have just benefitted from an overhaul, so are fresh all round and good for a long time. Suspension is all good with zero play or noise in any arms/bushings etc. Aftermarket Coilovers fitted which I had custom specified by BC racing. These are absolutely fantastic and make the car ride and handle beautifully. The original KONI shocks are included, but are past their best - hence me replacing them for something more modern and with more adjustment. The stock units can be rebuilt, but after trying and failing to find anyone reliable to do it, I opted for custom with the aim of making the car better than stock. The car is set up at close to stock height.
Currently the car is RWD ‘converted’ with the prop shaft removed. The previous owner did this, and I’ve never felt the need to refit it. Consensus amongst other Gallardo owners is that these cars handle and feel better to drive in RWD, like the Balboni cars (which were factory RWD) whilst also putting a little less strain on the clutch and gearbox. This is a common thing done on these. There’s certainly no issues with grip, the massive tyres and rear weight bias take care of that! I can refit the shaft if wanted, otherwise it is included in the sale.
Recent works to this car include (but aren’t limited to), not including general maintenance and servicing:
Throttle bodies rebuilt
Full set of pencil coils + plugs
Larini sport cats fitted
Wheels reconditioned
Full set of Michelin PS4 tyres (June 2026)
New discs up front, pads all round, rear discs skimmed.
Brake master cylinder
Air conditioning regas
Oil pump rebuilt, with all bearings, seals and O rings.
New Varta battery
New adjustable coilovers fitted
General recent maintenance includes:
Brake fluid changed
Power steering fluid changed
Engine oil + filter (Liqui Moly MolyGen 5w40 and genuine filter)
Rear anti roll bar bushes
Bonnet seal replaced
Active spoiler mechanism stripped, cleaned and rebuilt. Fully working.
All recent work is documented well with proof and receipts. I’ve never looked after anything quite so special, so a proper record has been kept. Proper leather booklet and all original literature present.
Small issues to note:
Speaker grille/cover missing on passenger door.
Windscreen wash bottle has just started leaking so is displaying an annoying ‘low’ warning constantly.
Battery panel cover under bonnet clips broken.
Drivers window works fine but is sticky going up, sometimes requires a help along.
Engine bay looks visually scruffy. I never got around to ‘restoring’ any of this. There’s nothing wrong with anything, it just has faded paint/plastics and looks tatty.
All in all, a very nice example of the marque here that’s ready for use straight away. Higher miles yes, but totally reliable and has been nothing but sweet to me - unlike some of my friends lower miles Gallardo’s of the same spec, which have given lots of trouble/issues!
Currently on my private reg which I will remove before sale.
Car is in Stafford, ST17.
No viewings in parties or more than two, and NO TEST DRIVES. I’ll happily take serious buyers for a varied drive, but will not let anyone drive this car.
£115,000.
Not looking for any PX, and in no rush to sell. Car will be continued to be used while for sale - as I love driving it!
Thanks for reading.
