Description
1954 MG TF1250
The TF Midget, launched on 15 October 1953 was a facelifted TD, fitted with the TD Mark II engine, headlights faired into the wings, a sloping radiator grille concealing a separate radiator, and a new pressurised cooling system along with a simulated external radiator cap. This XPAG engine's compression ratio had been increased to 8.1:1 and extra-large valves with stronger valve springs and larger carburettors increased output to 57.5bhp at 5,500 rpm.[This made for a very popular and extremely stylish sportscar at that time. Even today the MG TF is an excellent looking car.
This particular car was built in 1954 and despatched as an Export Model in March of that year. It has always been Right Hand Drive, so it was probably supplied to a UK province somewhere that drove on the left and it returned to the UK in 1990, when the restoration took place.
Finished in White with Mulberry leather interior, this is the finest MGTF we have ever had for sale, and we have had a good few over the years. The paint finish is stunning. Unmarked and for an older restoration it stands extremely well. The interior leather is stunning again pretty much unmarked. The condition confirms the fact that this car was part of a Private Collection from 1990 onwards and had seen very little use, before being recommissioned a couple of years ago.
So the work has been done. If you are seeking an MGTF to simply drive and enjoy, this is the car for you, and at only £17495 its something of a bargain.
