Description
2011 McLaren MP4-12C | Chassis Build No. 62 | Early Launch Production Car
Some cars are bought purely for their performance & driver feel.
Others become significant because of where they sit in a manufacturer’s history.
This McLaren MP4-12C represents both.
Presented here is an exceptionally early example of McLaren Automotive’s first production road car, carrying Chassis Build Number 62, placing it amongst the earliest customer cars built during the launch of McLaren Automotive.
Featuring the sought-after early swipe door release handles, this car represents a fascinating piece of McLaren history from the very beginning of McLaren’s modern road car programme.
Finished in timeless Graphite Grey over a full Black Leather interior with Carbon Fibre trim and Carbon Fibre rear diffuser, this example combines early provenance with the benefits of the official McLaren MY2013 Factory Upgrade, increasing power to 625PS, together with revised gearbox calibration and numerous software enhancements.
Today the car has covered just 27,400 miles and is supported by an exceptional maintenance history.

Maintenance
When I purchased the car, she had a comprehensive inspection by V Engineering, after which recommendation was completed.
Since then, the car has been serviced annually by V Engineering, with its most recent annual service completed on 28th May 2026.
The car has also benefited from an excellent maintenance history throughout its life with:
• McLaren Birmingham
• McLaren Ascot
• McLaren Leeds
• McLaren Guildford
• V Engineering
Over the past four years, more than £20,000 has been invested in preventative maintenance, in addition to routine servicing.
Major work includes:
• Four new suspension accumulators
• New air conditioning compressor
• Replacement McLaren headlight units following internal lens clouding
• Alloy wheel refurbishment with four new genuine McLaren centre caps
• Four-wheel alignment
• Corrosion rectification by McLaren Guildford to the front bumper, front wings and bonnet, addressing the well-known early MP4-12C corrosion points
• New front brake discs and pads
• New front wishbones
• New battery
This has never been a car that has simply been serviced when required. It has been maintained proactively, with preventative maintenance always taking priority over reactive repairs, ensuring it remains one of the finest early MP4-12Cs available today.
Why This Car?
The MP4-12C marked the beginning of McLaren Automotive’s modern era and remains one of the most significant British performance cars of the 21st century.
Early launch cars with exceptionally low build numbers, extensive history and comprehensive preventative maintenance are becoming increasingly difficult to find.
With Chassis Build Number 62, this example represents an opportunity to acquire one of the earliest production MP4-12Cs, combining early-build provenance with the benefits of the official MY2013 factory upgrades and a maintenance record that reflects careful, enthusiastic ownership.
Rather than simply being serviced, this car has been maintained proactively throughout its life, ensuring that many of the known age-related items have already been addressed.
It is a car that can be enjoyed immediately while also representing an increasingly significant chapter in McLaren Automotive’s history.
Included with the Car
• Full and comprehensive history file
• Original book pack
• Two keys
• Original documentation
• HPI Clear
• Current MOT
This MP4-12C has been a cherished part of my private collection and has always been maintained without compromise, irrespective of cost.
Every decision throughout my ownership has been guided by preserving the car’s originality, condition and provenance, rather than simply maintaining it to a budget.
It has been an absolute privilege to own and drive one of McLaren Automotive’s earliest production cars, and I hope it finds a new custodian who will appreciate not only its exceptional engineering and performance, but also its place in McLaren’s story.
I would much rather this car went to the right next custodian than simply the first person to arrive with a trailer.
Thank you for taking the time to read my advert.
Kind regards,
Richard
