Description
Here at Quick and Big we are privileged (if not a little intimidated) to be able to advertise for private sale from our owners private collection, the unique MK Indy ZX10R2. Powered by not one, but two Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R engines, its running just under 400bhp and weighs in at only 677kg wet, giving approx. 580bhp / tonne (that’s more than a Bugatti Veyron).
Our extreme MK is accompanied by a huge folder of build history, including receipts / manuals / build photographs etc. The receipts for parts alone totaling approx. £35k, not to mention the non-receipted items and the hundreds of hours of skilled labour, that went into completing this most extreme of road / track cars.
Our unique MK, has also been magazine featured, it was the front page feature car, with a 5 page feature in Total Kit Car Magazine (a copy comes with the car), and was also featured by Autocar in a You Tube drag race, its a good watch, but not really a fair fight, google it!
There is also an interesting blog about its build on the MK Sports Cars website.
MK Sports Cars have built an enviable reputation for their Lotus 7 inspired, track focused Indy, they are a long standing manufacturer of factory and kit built cars, with several hundred Indy’s on the road and track. They have a strong community following.
YJ67GKV, our unique twin engine example was built by an enthusiast and former MK Engineer between 2015 – 2017, and was IVA’d and registered correctly as the unique MK Indy ZX10R2 on an age related (67) plate on 14/8/17.
Our stunning Indy was the brain child of a former MK engineer (Matt), it was his fourth private MK build. He embarked on a plan to build a twin engined MK, having read a 2002 magazine article on the then, worlds fastest 0-60pmh road car, the twin engine Tiger Z100 (collaboration between Tiger Racing and Z Cars). My original copy of that Magazine (I kept my copy, as I’m fascinated by twin engine cars too, having also owned a twin engine Z Cars Mini) that inspired Matt also accompanies the bonkers MK.
The rear wheel drive Tiger Z100, featured in that article was fitted with the less powerful (140bhp each) carb fed 899cc Kawasaki ZX9 engines and was timed at 3.1 seconds to 60mph. Matt then aged 15 was hooked, he vowed one day to build a twin engined Lotus 7 type car himself.
Rolling forward 13 years, and Matt commenced his two year build, included modifying and strengthening a new MK chassis, shoe horning the rebuilt pair of 2007 ZX-10R Ninja engines into the chassis. The two, six speed sequential gear boxes, put their power through a drive box sourced from Tiger Racing, via a custom made prop shaft to Quaife diff (no chain drive here). It has mechanical reverse (not an electric motor), which terrifyingly means technically it also has six sequential reverse gears!
It was a no compromise build, with all the right parts / brands being used, two Kawasaki Ninja ZX10R Ken Urwin rebuilt engines, billet dry sump kits, Weldon oil pump, Dynojet Power Commanders, decatted with twin Micron Beta Competition silencers (a pair of cats and the original Tiger exhausts accompany the car), independently switched aux 1.5hp cooling fan, Willwood Powerlight front calipers / drilled discs / Mintex pads, Proteck double adjustable shock absorbers, Compomotive Motorsport wheels, Avon road legal semi slicks (185/55/13’s front and 215/55/13’s rear, 5mm of tread all round), Coolex custom built double radiator with two fans, Sabelt 4 point harnesses, light weight MK seats (drivers on runners), OMP detachable flat bottom steering wheel, braced roll cage with side bars, no wonder the parts invoices in the file alone approach £35k!
Stock ZX-10R engines produce 181bhp each, the rebuilt units in our MK are more free breathing and fitted with Dyno Jet Power Commanders, in its accompanying Magazine article the builder speculates total power is now approaching 400bhp. Two big bike engines, with a 12,000 plus RPM red line, induction noise inches in front of you, exhausts inches to your left, the experience and sound are incredible.
Please head to You Tube and search for "Quick and Big's" channel, to see a clip from a Brands Hatch track day and little blast taken from the passenger seat, which hopefully capture its super car acceleration, and awesome noise.
Our Kawasaki powered Indy, looks contemporary in brilliant white, with black accessories, along with plenty of carbon look / carbon fibre (aero screen, front wheel arches, rear lights, dash board).
We have just had it corner weighted by local race car specialists, Bushell’s Motorsport, with near perfect 50/50 weight distribution.
Our ballistic Indy has had 4 former keepers, and has done very little work since its build, currently showing an indicated 1615 miles. Its MOT history shows 661 miles in 2021, 721 in 2023 and 1609 miles at its most recent test, which was passed with no advisories expired on 21/7/2027.
Our twin engine MK, also comes with some spare parts, fluids etc, a Haynes manual for the Kawasaki Ninja, and 2 sets of keys.
Many thanks for wading through our lengthy description, we believe it’s better to describe our cars fully. It is not in our interest to waste your time or ours, with inaccurate or incomplete descriptions. Apologies for using so many superlatives, but it really is awesome!
Our engineer built, twin Ninja engined MK Indy, really does tick all the Quick and Big boxes, it is great value, very, very quick, beautifully presented, road registered and absolutely unique. Nobody else in the paddock or at a car meet will have anything even close, it will certainly draw a crowd!
