1987 AC COBRA

Hand-built at Autokraft’s historic Brooklands workshops, each AC Cobra Mk IV required 900 hours to construct. Its hand-rolled aluminium body retained the timeless Cobra silhouette while offering improved comfort and drivability.This exceptional original 1987 AC Cobra 302 Mk IV, chassis AK1220, was supplied by Rod Leach’s Nostalgia, the sole authorised UK Autokraft dealer. Ordered in November 1987, it was specified in Jaguar Westminster Blue with Burgundy Connolly leather and matching Wilton carpets. A bespoke steering wheel boss one of only two cars produced with this was also fitted.Its Ford Mustang 5.0-litre V8 was specially ordered with Holley carburettors and a decat exhaust, producing approximately 245 bhp—20 bhp above the standard EFI engine. Factory specification includes a Mota-Lita wood-rim steering wheel and gear knob, 16-inch black Halibrand wheels with three-eared spinners, glass wind wings, chrome stone guards, Pioneer radio/cassette, wet-weather equipment and an Everflex tonneau cover.In April 1990, AK1220 returned to Autokraft for the rare Stage 3 SVO Lightweight Engine Modification, one of only 20 right-hand-drive examples produced. Alloy cylinder heads, roller cams, larger valves, a Holley carburettor and big-bore free-flow exhaust increased output to approximately 345 bhp. The original factory invoice remains on file. It was then registered YSV 427, which it retains today.Its provenance includes ownership by Rod Leach and time within our private collection from 2014. Maintained regardless of cost and extensively serviced by Redline Engineering Ltd, it has covered only a few hundred miles across recent ownerships.Pristine, matching numbers and exceptionally original, AK1220 has an organised history file containing its original handbook, service records, MOT certificates and AC sales brochure.
