--- Ownership, Originality & History

I am reluctantly selling my daily driver ready Honda S2000, which I have futureproofed, cherished and owned for nearly two decades.

This car has been enthusiastically maintained with near Full-Service History from Honda Dealers and renowned Honda Specialists only. It has been driven regularly, with predominantly motorway mileage and whilst used infrequently over recent years, it has been dry stored and regularly run out.

The car remains entirely genuine and standard, with the only mechanical preventative upgrades as per below. This is extremely rare for a car of this type, and a testament to ensuring it’s honoured to how it was intended. It has been my dream to own, and as in reading this advert a rare find to have such long ownership in this condition.

No stone has been left unturned during my ownership having been an avid member on the dedicated renowned forum, of which as any enthusiast will know is an invaluable source of well documented information.

NOTE - Pictures do not show the numberplate as at the time of taking, a private plate was fitted of which has now been removed.

--- The Mechanicals (Extensively Maintained/Futureproofed)

While the vehicle itself sits at 175k, this car drives outstandingly well due to the significant mechanical investment. In 2020 (when the car was at 163k), the original engine was replaced with an exceptional engine with 50k miles fewer, meaning the engine sits at 125k today.

Crucially, the replacement engine uses absolutely no oil at all, of which enthusiasts will know is a sign of a worn engine, and crucially comes with the near Full-Service History for the donor vehicle of which sadly became unusable only due to a corroded subframe.

During the engine replacement in 2020, undertaken by a Honda Specialist, a full inspection and comprehensive service was carried out, along with the following critical upgrades and preventative maintenance:

- Upgraded Ballade Sports Timing Chain Tensioner (TCT) fitted eliminating the notorious OEM tensioner failure risk.

- Brand new Clutch and Clutch Master Cylinder fitted at the same time as the swap, as well as new Spark Plugs, Valve Clearance checks as part of the comprehensive service / checks.

As any enthusiast will know, an engine replacement is a significant investment for any vehicle, and it was undertaken as the excellent condition in the rest of the vehicle warranted it.

Furthermore in keeping with the high standards of maintenance, in the years the followed the following has also been undertaken:

- Suspension overhauled using sub 40k 2008 donor vehicle, drastically improving handling and geometric stability characteristics associated with the earlier vehicles; further evident by even tyre wear on all corners.

- Brand new Front Brake Calipers fitted prior to the sale and whilst only the left-hand side was required, both sides were replaced in keeping with upkeep to date, and again addressing a common fault with aging vehicles for the next owners piece of mind.

--- Bodywork & Structural Condition

S2000 buyers will know that rust is the most important factor when buying these cars, so I will be completely transparent:

- The underside: In 2024 professional welding and rust repair was undertaken to address the left-hand side sill and rear inner wheel arch, ensuring the chassis remained protected for decades to come. Preventative sealing was undertaken throughout, and with focus also given to the right-hand side rear inner wheel arch to again ensure longevity and give total piece of mind.

- Right-hand Rear Arch: The metal remains solid and has not split, there are visible signs of paint bubbling that eventually will require paint shops attention. This has not spread over many years, and protected by the above, however it is an element that has been considered in the cost.

- Left-hand Rear Arch: The metal again remains solid, rust-free and not showing any signs of paint bubbling, in a view of being fully transparent the paint condition from a previous metal weld repair does show signs of very slight imperfect preparation work of which is slightly noticeable under direct sunlight reflections only.

Whilst not required at all, I am including a brand-new left-hand outer replacement steel panel in the sale; right-hand side replacement panels can be easily sourced and I can provide the information thereof.

--- Exterior & Roof

Finished in the solid Berlina Black, the exterior is in excellent condition regularly fully detailed to both protect but give the pop that never fails to turn heads.

The paint work on the front understandably has some stone chips akin to the miles (could easily be filled), and due to use there is a slight door dink to the driver’s door due to jealous car park user. There is no obvious scratching or damage and is a testament to the love it’s received, whilst being honest to its originality.

The roof has been replaced with an upgraded Mohair roof, of which has no marks, or rips and crucially does not leak in anyway. Enthusiasts again will know this is a rarity for these cars and to reinforce the original plastic roofs being notorious to fail; leak / rip / crack.

--- Interior

The interior is in fantastic condition for its age in the most desirable a split Red and black combination.

Whilst grey OEM mats are fitted to give a level of contrast, the red carpets and red leather seats are in fantastic condition, with minor bolster wear to the driver’s side only.

The original cassette head unit has been replaced with an updated Alpine MP3 player that utilises a USB input, whilst retaining the all the handsfree controls.

--- Summary

This is an honest, daily driver and well sorted S2000 that is a testament to the love I have given it over the years. The main reason for sale, is that due to personal circumstances the car simply isn’t used (it was my daily drive) and would like you, the next owner to have many more decade of enjoyment like I’ve had.

There simply isn’t another car on the market that delivers so effortlessly, so reliably and so desirably. It never fails to turn heads and whilst it can easy be driven as a daily in any condition, it will certainly give you a smile on an open road.

Lastly, as any enthusiast will know excellent examples like this, will not depreciate any further and are well established as appreciating collectables with numbers sadly on the decline year on year.

--- Price

Whilst I acknowledge this isn’t a low mileage example, of which itself can be fraught with problems due to the non-use, and nor is it in showroom condition, it is an honest, cherished and futureproofed example.

Therefore, the price reflects the fantastic vehicle condition, as well as extensive structural and mechanical work completed, with the recent brake calipers replacement only being undertaken to further demonstrate my commitment to the next owner.
