Faithfully capturing the understated menace of Steve McQueen's legendary movie car while benefitting from a comprehensive, no-expense-spared restoration, this exceptional 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback Bullitt Replica represents far more than a cosmetic tribute. Beginning life as a genuine 1967 Fastback discovered in a Florida barn, the car was imported to the UK in 2011 with the intention of creating an accurate Bullitt recreation. However, once dismantled, the quality of the project evolved into a complete ground-up rebuild, resulting in an exceptionally well-engineered and beautifully executed example.

The shell was stripped to bare metal before undergoing extensive fabrication, including new floor pans and body panels, all carefully aligned on a chassis jig. Every hallmark of the famous Bullitt Mustang was incorporated, including the correct 1968-style side louvres, 'turn signal' bonnet, deleted reverse lights, blacked-out rear valance, de-badged exterior and bespoke black 'chicken wire' grille. Further attention to authenticity included the correctly repositioned aerial, original-style driver's mirror and rear quarter reflectors. The body restoration was entrusted to renowned Mustang and Aston Martin specialists F.H. Ellis Coachworks before receiving a high-quality finish in Dupont Highland Green by Meon Valley Classics.

Power comes from an extensively rebuilt Ford Windsor V8 that began life as a race-prepared 351 cubic-inch unit before being professionally re-engineered into a formidable 393 cubic-inch stroker by Classic and Modern Engines of Bracknell. Featuring new pistons, bearings, timing components, oil pump and extensive cylinder head machining with polished, high-flow ports, the engine is complemented by an Edelbrock aluminium inlet manifold, Holley four-barrel carburettor, ceramic-coated headers, Magnaflow exhaust system and uprated high-pressure fuel system. Producing in excess of 400bhp, it delivers exhilarating performance whilst remaining perfectly capable of effortless high-speed cruising.

The mechanical specification continues with an impressive array of upgrades designed to transform the driving experience. A Tremec TKO 500 five-speed manual gearbox is paired with a competition clutch, balanced propshaft and heavy-duty 8-inch rear axle incorporating a Detroit Truetrac limited-slip differential with a 3.50:1 final drive. Braking has been upgraded with Classic Performance Parts front power-assisted discs, while a Unisteer power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering conversion, uprated suspension with race-specification Linc dampers, polyurethane bushes, new leaf springs and coils ensure the chassis performs to match the engine's capabilities. Cooling is handled by a Champion four-row aluminium radiator, providing excellent thermal management even in demanding conditions.

Inside, the cabin was completely renewed by South Coast Mustangs with a fully reupholstered interior, new headlining, centre console, dashboard and an entirely new wiring loom. Additional improvements include upgraded instrumentation for more accurate oil pressure and coolant temperature readings, LED rear lighting, new bumpers and overriders, a replacement fuel tank and the correct Torq Thrust D alloy wheels wrapped in Uniroyal tyres, perfectly completing the iconic Bullitt appearance.

Accompanying the car is an extensive UK history file containing invoices documenting the restoration, literature relating to the components fitted throughout the build and photographs of the Mustang as discovered before restoration began. The result is an exceptionally detailed and thoughtfully engineered Bullitt Replica that successfully combines the unmistakable looks of one of cinema's most famous Mustangs with modernised performance, reliability and drivability, making it equally suited to spirited road use, long-distance touring or any discerning Ford collection.
