1981 MERCEDES-BENZ 500

Motodrome offer this unicorn of a 1981 Mercedes S-class (W126) 500SEL Auto, finished in Thistle Green metallic with Olive Green full leather interior.

A Mercedes from the days when excellent build quality was a priority, this is a genuine ONE PRIVATE OWNER FROM NEW example, which, with it’s 245bhp V8 motor in the SEL long-wheelbase body, was the definitive executive express of the 1980’s.

Fitted with air conditioning, cruise control, electric front seats, windows, and passenger mirror, front centre armrest, rear headrests, kenwood radio/cassette, ,and rear seat belts.

Naturally we have really extensive history for it, including the original sales order, build card, the original service book with 14 stamps in it up to 84000 miles, countless invoices for servicing and maintenance, sales brochures, and the full book pack, with at least 2 sets of keys.

Odometer reading 75000 miles, although the history shows it had a speedo change at 24000 miles, so the true mileage is more like 99000. We’re selling it as ‘mileage known incorrect’ to avoid any misunderstandings.

It’s one of the most unmolested examples I’ve seen, and has clearly led a very sheltered life in single ownership,
