Description

Incredibly reluctant sale of my cherished Renaultsport Clio 200. I’d love to hang on to it but truthfully it hasn’t been used anywhere near enough and I feel guilty because of it, covering 5000 miles in the last 7 years. It’s currently on 75301 miles and is unlikely to increase much (if at all).
The car is a Clio 200 finished in stunning Liquid Yellow and comes with the factory options listed below:
Cup chassis (which includes stiffer spring rates and matched dampers and faster steering rack).
Recaro bucket seats.
GT Rear Spolier
RenaultSport Carpet Mats
I’ve owned this for over 11 years and it’s been the most fun and most reliable car I’ve ever owned, I’ve spared no expense maintaining it and upgrading various bits over the years. As shown in the huge stack of receipts/invoices for everything it’s had. The car has had a major service in December 2024 an independent Renault specialist including timing/aux belts and dephaser (timed using genuine cam locking tooling), water pump and coolant flush, engine oil and filter using all genuine Renault parts. In my ownership the car has always been warmed up fully before any spirited use and always ran on Shell V Power. I’ve spoken to 3 of the previous 4 owners and can say that it’s been looked after very well before I owned it too.
The car has a full service history with a mix of Renault / Renault specialists and myself. There’s a small gap in the history over the last couple of years when the car has barely moved.
The car runs faultlessly and most importantly the causes of the common faults associated with this model of Clio have been avoided with preventive maintenance.
The gearbox is smooth and crunch free, it was replaced by Renault under warrantee before I bought the car and has been perfect throughout my ownership thanks to careful use and regular oil changes.
The seat bolsters on the Recaro seats are virtually unmarked as shown in the pictures.
All of the ball joints which are prone to failure have been replaced with upgraded items (manufactured by someone well known in the Renaultsport world - Rene)
The pins for the front callipers have been replaced by Mr Pink ones to stop them siezing.
The radiator subframe which is prone to corrosion has been replaced with an aluminium item.
The exhaust flexi joints are in great condition, protected by powerflex engine points.
During my ownership I’ve added a few mods to the car which are listed below. They’re all reversible but I’m my opinion they make a great drivers car even better and they’re amongst the highest spec things you can buy for these:
AST 5100 coilovers and fully adjustable AST spherical bearing top mounts - specced in a usable road set up with 60/40Nm springs and valved to suit. They’re a huge step up on the cup chassis items and any mid spec coilover. They’re surprisingly comfortable and offer fantastic control. These have covered less than 3000 miles.
Akrapovič Evolution full cat back exhaust system with matching genuine carbon fibre Akrapovič exhaust tips. This gives a lovely sporting tone without the annoying drone that a lot of other exhaust systems give.
RS Tuning dyno remap, which increased drive ability throughout the range, the car produced 195bhp.
ITG panel filter (freshly cleaned).
O.Z. Alleggerita 17” x 8J wheels fitted with Toyo R888 tyres. These wheels are the lightest you can buy for these cars and combined with the tyres make a huge difference to steering feel and turn in. These have covered less than 1000 miles and have loads of life left in them.
Powerflex road series bushes in most places. Giving better control without severe NVH increases. (Note the main engine mount is still OEM part as this is known to give severe NVH increases).
Superpro adjustable drop links and anti rotation links.
Spoon rigid subframe collars (full set) front and rear subframe mounts. These reduce any possible movement between the subframe and body. An incredibly rare mod for these cars but one which is worth it for the added control.
PMS stud and nut kit.
HEL braided brake lines (full set of 6) replacing all rubber lines on the car. Matched with Motul RBF600 fluid and DS1.11 pads and standard discs. All brakes have loads of life left in them.
Custom made lightweight crankshaft pulley but a well known member of the Renaultsport community (Rene Dizdar) which reduced engine inertia without increasing vibration. (Original part will come with car).
Steering wheel and gear gaiter re-trimmed in dark grey Alcantara by Royal Steering Wheels. Rather than the usual job I had them remove the original leather from the wheel and trim the bare wheel so that the grip thickness didn’t increase.
Clio V6 gearknob, these are incredibly rare and difficult to find.
Odyssey PC680 battery and bracket (currently fitted in place of a normal battery as I haven’t got round to relocating it). This has always been kept disconnected and/or on a charger.
The car is has just had an MOT, please note there’s an issue with a fail a couple of months ago when it was tested incorrectly, the garage used the wrong engine data and didn’t have the car even close to temperature - I have the printout showing the wrong engine data -
I’m currently speaking to the DVSA about having the fail removed from the record as it passed without any remedial work when tested correctly. Im happy to take people out for a drive and happy to let you drive with proof of driving licence and fully comprehensive insurance.
For full clarity the car has two areas of lacquer peel (about the size of a hand) one on the roof and one on the bonnet. I’ve temporarily sprayed some lacquer on top to protect the paint but it obviously needs a professional job. This is reflected in the price - I’ve had quotes ranging from £1000-1500 to rectify this.
Prior to the lacquer peel I was hoping for £12000 for the car however taking that into account I’d be willing to accept lower offers.
To be included with the car if the new owner wants them:
OEM front top mount plastic covers which don’t fit over the AST top mounts.
A selection of OEM suspension and wheel bolts/nuts.
OEM aux belt pulley.
Extras for sale (to be negotiated separately):
1 set of 7.5J OEM Speedline wheels finished in gloss black with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres. Not in perfect condition but perfectly useable.
A Clio V6 air box and filter with associated pipework and brackets to fit and JWM lithium battery which also has the associated brackets and charger. These have never been fitted. The plan was to relocate the battery and fit the air box but I never got round to it.
3D printed fog light brake cooling ducts.
Part worn front DS2500 pads.
Rear callipers needing refurb.
OEM gear knob and gaiter (not great condition).
