1966 FORD MUSTANG

Time has come to sell our 1966 Ford Mustang, she is a 1966 factory V8, automatic model, she was factory fitted with power steering and A/C.

We are the only uk owners and had her imported from the west coast of the USA around 15 years ago, we then spent 2 years fully nut and bolt, bare metal restoring her.

Completely original rust free shell, original floors, quarters etc etc, I can’t emphasise enough just how immaculate and completely rust free this car was! We spent years and years searching for a genuinely rust free car. It was quite badly sun damaged hence the restoration, but again it had zero rust!

Everything was replaced apart from the glass and interior rear view mirror.

The inside and underneath were painted with the same care as the outside and it has zero under seal! Nothing hiding, you can see exactly what you are getting.

It was painted by the same body shop our local Aston Martin and Bentley dealers use, so as you can imagine the job was second to none!

New interior, new wiring harness, while it was stripped we upgraded to a fully rebuilt 1980’s 302 roller bearing engine and had the gearbox rebuilt too, some light engine modifications but nothing extravagant, full stainless exhaust, edelrock 4 barrel carb, msd ignition, intake etc but it’s not built for speed, it’s a reliable under-stressed beautiful sounding cruiser. Big alloy radiator, new fuel tank etc etc.

Big 4 pot front brake conversion (I forget the brand now sorry, but they are the classic looking calipers, so fit the cars look perfectly) amazing brakes, car stops on a dime.

Very powerful, effortless and perfectly geared, sits beautifully at 70/80mph and will spin its wheels easily from a stand still.

Starts and runs like a dream, embarrassingly we have covered less than 1000 miles in the 13 plus years since the restoration was completed. At the time is was part of our 8 car collection and sat in its heated garage being admired but rarely used.

All the cars were slowly sold off over the years and were replaced with a big motorhome, a big boat and 2 children… the Mustang was the only one we couldn’t part with, but now my car obsessed little boy is 9 years old and is longing for a modern supercar, so unfortunately the Mustang will have to eventually go. (He obviously loves the Mustang but it has been here his entire life and you can tell he is getting a little bored, plus we will use the modern super car all the time and for longer trips)

Used maybe 15 times per summer season for short local runs, it is still on the button and ready to go, it has had nothing done to the car in these 13 plus years other than a few oil and coolant changes, so you can see the amazing condition inside, outside and underneath (this is not a ‘freshly’ painted car hiding god only knows what under brand new paint and under seal) the paint is 13 years old and still near perfect.

I was a complete car fanatic when we built this and knew every little detail about them and all the parts fitted, I slowly lost interest over the years as the children arrived etc, so may not know every little detail but will try my best to answer any questions you may have.
