This is the top-of-the-range GT Line in the most desirable specification: the more powerful R135 motor, the larger 52kWh battery, and importantly this is a battery-owned car, not one of the battery-lease examples. That distinction matters enormously on a used Zoe. Many were sold with the battery on a separate monthly rental agreement that transfers to the next owner; this car's battery is included outright, so there is no monthly battery payment to inherit and nothing to arrange with Renault. It makes the car simpler to own and considerably cheaper to run. The Zoe remains one of the most sensible small electric cars you can buy, and the Z.E. 50 version fixed the only real criticism of the earlier models by nearly doubling the range. The 52kWh battery gives an official 238 miles WLTP, with most owners reporting a realistic 180 to 200 miles in mixed driving and comfortably more around town. For the school run, the commute and the weekly shop, that is a week of driving on a single charge. The R135 is the quick one. Its 100kW (134bhp) motor produces 245Nm instantly, so it feels genuinely nippy 0-62mph in 9.5 seconds, and more usefully, 50 to 75mph in just 7.1 seconds, which makes motorway slip roads and overtakes effortless. It is silent, smooth and remarkably refined for a small car, with a B-mode setting that increases regenerative braking for easier one-pedal driving in traffic. Celadon Blue metallic was a £660 factory option and is easily the best colour on the Zoe a soft, elegant grey-blue that suits the car's rounded shape far better than the usual white or black. GT Line is the fully loaded specification. This car has 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, a chrome grille, tinted rear windows, front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view reversing camera, blind spot warning, electrically folding door mirrors and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror. Inside there is a 9.3-inch portrait EasyLink touchscreen with satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, DAB radio and Bluetooth, a digital instrument display, climate control and part-recycled, part-synthetic leather upholstery. On top of that, this car has the £500 Winter Pack heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. On an electric car that is more than a comfort feature: warming the seats and wheel draws far less power than heating the whole cabin, so it directly protects your range on cold mornings. Combined with the Zoe's standard heat pump, this is an unusually well-equipped car for a British winter. Charging is genuinely flexible thanks to Renault's Chameleon charger, which accepts up to 22kW on AC double what most rivals manage.
