The Mk2 Astra GTE 16v was one of the defining hot hatches of the late 1980s, with its 2.0-litre 16-valve 'Red Top' engine, shared with the Cavalier SRi and later the Calibra, offering genuine pace and it has since become a staple among Vauxhall enthusiasts

Vauxhall's 1998cc, 16-valve four-cylinder with multi-point injection offered 155bhp and 150ft.lb of torque fed through a 5-speed gearbox to the front wheels enabling 0-60 in 8 seconds and 135mph

Registered in late 1991, from the final year of Mk2 GTE 16v production, this example is finished in Nova Black with Vauxhall's distinctive multi-stripe cloth trim, GTE 16V badged steering wheel and digital dashboard
