Description

This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Classic Sale at CarFest 2026 - Sunday on Sunday the 30th of August, The Wing, Silverstone Circuit, NN12 8TN.
The Singer Roadster was introduced in 1939 as an open counterpart to the Bantam saloon, evolving through a number of iterations before the 4AD, or SM Roadster, arrived in 1951
Initially produced strictly for the export market (especially North America), 1953 marked the first year this 1.5-litre model became officially available for purchase on the domestic British market
First registered in 1953, this 4AD has formed part of a private Collection since 2024, having previously remained with its former keeper since 2005
Powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine producing approximately 48bhp, driving the rear wheels through a four-speed manual gearbox
During an earlier restoration, the car was refinished in Triumph Honeysuckle Yellow and retrimmed in contrasting red leatherette, complemented by a matching red dashboard and door cards
Recommissioned during 2014/2015, with work including an engine rebuild, attention to the radiator and fuel pump and the fitment of a new black hood, with very little mileage covered subsequently
An appealing example of this quintessentially British open sports car, equally at home on relaxed weekend drives, at local shows or as a charming addition to a wider collection
