2001 BMW M5

Widely regarded as one of the greatest sports saloons ever built, the BMW E39 M5 represents a high point in BMW M's history. With its naturally aspirated 4.9-litre V8, six-speed manual gearbox and understated styling, it delivers a driving experience that many enthusiasts consider impossible to replicate today.

This particular example was first registered in July 2001 and is a highly desirable facelift model, finished in Carbon Black metallic with black leather interior. Having covered just 70,000 miles from new, it is exceptionally low mileage for an E39 M5 and presents in outstanding condition throughout. Prior to me, it had 3 previous owners, the last of which owned the car for 16 years.

I acquired this car in 2021 and since then, it has only covered around 800 miles, has been garaged and never driven during the winter months.

It has just been freshly MOT'd (no advisories) until 22/7/27 and serviced. It also has brand new discs and pads on the front and rear and it drives perfectly. I have a history file, detailing service history which goes back to 2005. During my ownership, the car has been looked after by BMW specialist Klasse Series Automotive in Kirknewton.

The car comes from my own private collection and has led a very sheltered life. It has been used sparingly, carefully maintained and never treated as everyday transport. As a result, it retains the feel of a cherished enthusiast-owned car rather than one that has simply accumulated years of use.

I have never hesitated to replace or refurbish anything that detracted from the car's condition. Rather than simply servicing it when required, I have invested in ensuring it is presented to the highest possible standard. Anything that needed attention has been addressed, leaving a car that is genuinely difficult to fault.

All the common small issues associated with M5s of this era have been taken care of, including dead pixels on the binnacle and de-laminated re-view mirror.

Finding an E39 M5 today is relatively straightforward. Finding one with only 70,000 miles, in facelift specification and in mint condition is becoming increasingly difficult. Many examples have now covered well in excess of 120,000 miles, making low-mileage, carefully preserved cars such as this increasingly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts.

Cars of this quality rarely become available, and I am confident the next owner will appreciate the level of care and investment that has gone into caring for it.
