Description
Condition:
Covering over 230,000 miles it has never missed a beat in my ownership which is unsurprising that no expense was spared keeping this toy ticking over.
In my ownership I have spent over 10000 GBP including:
- Major engine and turbo reconditioning
- Timing belt changes (most recent done in June 2024)
- Performance brake: EBC Slotted disks, EBC Yellow pads, HEL braided lines and fluid
- IEM delete
- Coil pack conversion to R8 coil packs
- Replacement of all the front suspension arms
- Air conditioning system reseal
- Countless oil changes
- New Bridgestone Potenza Sport tires fitted May 2026
I have also spent a large amount of personal time developing parts for the car:
- Bi-xenon Morimoto projector upgrade
- LED fog light conversion
- Rear seat fold handle redesign
Other items of note:
- Comes with VIOFO 119
- Cruise Control
- Electric adjusting seats
- Recaro sports seats
- Cargo cover
- Dog divider guard
- Lots of spare parts from engine rebuild
The previous owner had previously reconditioned the wheels, in my ownership I managed to drop on on its face so there are some chips on one of them (rear right in the photos).
The main reason I'm moving on from it is because of its cosmetics, the car might have been resprayed before or it has spent a considerable amount of time in the sun in its lifetime (surprising for England) and as its red it has not been very favourable to it causing the lacquer to peel in quite a few places.
There are a couple of rust spots starting, mainly on the front passenger door, and some specs in the arches but nothing critical. You're welcome to judge them for yourself though, they have been captured in the photos.
On the rear left quarter there is a small dent above the arch that you can see if you catch the light and reflections right, as well as two areas where the rear bumper has been pushed in causing some stress marks to the paint.
For history checking please use the current numberplate which is "P33 SHT", this will be changed back to the original "V277 TWL" upon sale.
There are a couple of videos which the most recent garage has taken during service, I'm happy to provide these upon request, they show a walk around and damage report of the car, the car starting and proof of service. I'm unable to include links within the listing description.
Experience:
The car drives super nicely with its double wishbone suspension front and rear, it was very advanced for the time setting a new standard for other brands to follow.
I have taken the car through Europe, and got to let loose on the German autobahn, it felt like a jet engine taking off when it built boost in 6th gear accelerating, a moment I will treasure for life! Other than that it casual sat doing 120 and not breaking a sweat!
Going from a more modern car to an older one like this you really appreciate how raw and unfiltered everything was, the steering braking even the electricals with actual relays clicking for the turn signals. Everything was built to a different standard and you can feel that it was made to last.
I also really appreciate the amount of aftermarket support this car has received, it was a hit in the US and sparked a whole host of companies making OEM+ and better parts. Also, if you have a problem you bet someone had something similar 10 years ago and posted about it on one of the many Audi forums so you can work yourself out of any pickle you get yourself into!
