1999 Porsche 911 (996) Carrera Manual – Silver

A good, honest example of an early 996 Carrera, finished in classic silver with a red leather interior.

I’ve owned and enjoyed the car rather than treating it as a garage queen. It has covered 113,000 miles, but presents extremely well for its age, as the photos show, and still feels like a proper analogue 911 to drive.

Being a 1999 car, it’s one of the desirable early 996s, with the 3.4-litre flat-six and 6-speed manual gearbox. These early cars are becoming increasingly appreciated as one of the most affordable ways into a genuinely engaging, naturally aspirated 911.

The car has benefited from significant maintenance and sympathetic upgrades carried out by Unique Porsche Specialists in Bolton, with invoices to document the work. Recent work includes a new starter motor, replacement door mechanisms, brake pipe repairs, brake fluid change, power-steering pipe work and various electrical/lighting repairs, alongside servicing and general maintenance. It has been looked after by a respected independent Porsche specialist, with the focus on keeping the car mechanically sound and enjoyable to drive rather than over-modifying it.

The silver exterior works particularly well with the red interior. Not many of these around. Clean, understated appearance that makes the original 996 increasingly appealing.

There are a few age-related points worth mentioning so there are no surprises. The window seals aren’t perfect and allow a little wind noise through, there is a small paint chip to the front-right area, the tyres will need replacing in the not-too-distant future, and I would budget for some suspension refresh work over the next 10,000 miles or so. I’ve priced the car with these points in mind rather than trying to disguise them.

The car is currently on my private registration, which will not be included in the sale and will be retained before handover.

I’m in no rush to sell. It’s a great-looking, usable manual 911 that can be driven and enjoyed without worrying about adding miles to a low-mileage collector car.
