An 11kW onboard charger fills it overnight at home. The 217ps rear-mounted motor delivers 350Nm instantly, giving 0-62mph in 7.4 seconds with near-total silence and real refinement. Paddle-adjustable regenerative braking and an i-Pedal one-pedal mode make town driving effortless, while Highway Drive Assist takes the strain out of motorway journeys by holding lane and distance for you. Premium specification is generous: dual 12.3-inch digital displays, satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel, a four-way powered driver's seat, dual LED projector headlights, a powered tailgate, wireless phone charging, an auto-dimming mirror, a reversing camera and rear parking sensors. Because the IONIQ 5 sits on a dedicated electric platform, the wheelbase is longer than a Range Rover's. Rear legroom is enormous, the floor is completely flat, and the rear bench slides and reclines. The boot holds 527 litres with a further 57 litres under the bonnet.
