Description
Porsche 986 Boxster 3.2S
We have owned the car for nearly 6 years and during this time it has mainly been my wife’s second car being garaged during the winter (apart from when its dry and sunny) and coming out in the spring to be enjoyed.
The colour is “Turkisblau” or Torquise Blue which was only used on the Porsche 911 993’s. This car was specially ordered in this colour from the factory which at the time must have cost a fortune. You will see the centre console and roll hoops were painted in the colour to match.
I have been told this is the only Boxster that came into the UK painted in this colour (if you know different send me a picture of another)!
The car is approaching 25 years old, so it does have some signs of its age cosmetically. I have had the front and rear bumpers repainted as they were scuffed/stone chipped. There are other scratches here and there that I have lived with, but if you want perfection could be done in the main by smart repairs I would think. Likewise, the wheels would benefit from a refurb. However, there are no signs of rust anywhere.
As you will see from the photos, there’s lots of detail around the cars service history together with a file containing old MOT’s, invoices etc…
The car shows no signs of any accident damage (all stickers on the boot and bonnet lid are intact).
Before we purchased the car it spent a lot of time in Marbella (see service stamps) so didn’t see much in the way of bad weather. At 39,500 miles it had a service and other work completed in the UK which included:
• New IMS bearing.
• New dual mass flywheel and clutch.
• Alternator and new belt.
The mileage is currently 69,156 but will go up slightly as we are still enjoying it on the sunny days.
Other works that have been completed:
• 15 service stamps, the last one being done at 67,800 when in addition to the service it had a water pump, coil packs and aux belt fitted.
• Set of Bridgestone tyres at 66,500 miles so the tyres are barely worn.
• Underneath there is virtually no rust as I have waxoiled the jacking points and sills every year.
Things that the next owner might want to attend to are:
• The air conditioning doesn’t work (this hasn’t really bothered us as we drive with the roof down when its warm).
• The soft top roof is in great condition, but the rear window has some tiny cracks where it folds when open/down position (these are in the images).
• Radio/CD player doesn’t work (I would replace it with a double DIN sat nav unit if I were keeping it).
• Central locking doesn’t work off the remote (but does work when the key is put in the door lock).
This summer we have used the car for various longish trips; the car is reliable drives perfectly and uses no oil or water. There is no smoke on start up or whilst driving and the oil is clean when dipped.
To summarise this is an affordable classic Porsche and these 986 Boxster’s seem to be on the way up price wise. Being the 3.2 it has plenty of torque making it smooth and easy car to drive.
