I’m selling my Subaru Impreza WRX STi Version 2, which has a particularly interesting history. For the first two years of its life in Japan, it was owned by Subaru STi and used as a development car. That’s the real talking point of this particular Impreza and something that sets it apart from other examples.

It has some carefully chosen upgrades, including genuine OZ Prodrive P1 wheels, an Exedy organic clutch, a lightweight flywheel and BC BR Series coilovers fitted and set up by Roger Clark Motorsport. The previous owner also fitted a Roger Clark Motorsport downpipe and custom exhaust. It sounds great, as an Impreza should, without being excessively loud.

Maintenance and upgrades

64,987 miles: Exedy uprated organic clutch, lightweight flywheel and Roger Clark Motorsport sump baffle plate fitted.

66,950 miles: BC BR Series coilover kit fitted and set up by Roger Clark Motorsport.

67,646 miles: Four Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres fitted.

69,000 miles: Cambelt and pulleys replaced.

It also has Mintex M1155 brake pads, alongside the genuine OZ Prodrive P1 wheels and exhaust mentioned above.

Condition and known faults

There are a few things to be aware of, and I’d rather be upfront about them. The bonnet and front bumper have some scuffs and marks, with a few pin dents. There is also some peeling paint on the driver’s door. Inside, a small hole in the driver’s seat has been stitched up.

The engine warning light comes on for around a minute after a cold start, then goes out. It does not come back on when starting the car warm. I haven’t noticed any running issues alongside this, but it is something a buyer should be aware of.

It isn’t a pristine show car, but it’s an early Japanese-market STi with some worthwhile upgrades and a genuinely unusual history.
