Offered for sale is an exceptionally unusual 1992 Lamborghini Diablo Series One: a genuine factory right-hand-drive, rear-wheel-drive example with the iconic gated five-speed manual transmission and documented former ownership by Prince Jefri Bolkiah of the Brunei Royal Family.

Finished in striking metallic Burgundy Red over Magnolia leather with red piping and matching carpets, and fitted with the factory rear wing, this is a particularly distinctive example of Lamborghini’s original Diablo. Research undertaken to date has not identified another early RHD Diablo in the same factory colour specification.

The odometer currently records 39, 759 kilometres, equivalent to 24, 706 miles, supported by the car’s history file and MOT record.

Brunei Royal Family Provenance

The provenance is one of the most significant aspects of this particular Diablo.

Chassis ZA9DE07A0NLA12701 appears by full chassis number within the well-known historical inventory of the Brunei Royal Family motor-car collection, where it is recorded as:

LAM DIABLO DPD – ZA9DE07A0NLA12701

and attributed to Prince Jefri Bolkiah.

Importantly, the provenance extends beyond the inventory listing. The history file includes original transport documentation recording the car’s movement from Geneva to the United Kingdom following its departure from Brunei in September 1999, together with a period photograph of Prince Jefri alongside this very Diablo.

Early Series One Diablo

Introduced in 1990 as the successor to the Countach, the original Diablo represented Lamborghini’s new flagship while retaining the uncompromising character of its predecessor.

This 1992 example belongs to the desirable early generation, before the introduction of four-wheel drive and many of the refinements found on later Diablos.

Its naturally aspirated 5, 707cc quad-cam V12 produces approximately 492bhp, driving the rear wheels through Lamborghini’s gated five-speed manual gearbox.

With no power steering and few concessions between driver and machine, these early rear-wheel-drive cars represent the Diablo in arguably its purest form.
