The Appeal

In the late 90s the hot hatch market got red hot. For its sixth generation Civic Honda executed a home run, bypassing rivals from Renault, Volkswagen and Ford with one of the greatest compact hatchbacks of all time - the Civic Type R.

The new car borrowed the DNA from the Integra and that was a very good thing. The B16B VTEC motor was the most powerful in its class, delivering sprint performance similar to a supercar. But it was how it did it that really impressed - you could spool it right up to 8,400rpm. Along the way it produced 185bhp - from a late 90s 1.6… It handled too, but then this was a Honda so that was a given.

These cars were so much fun to drive that well kept, factory standard survivors are exceptionally rare. This car is exactly that, finished in popular Championship White with bright red Recaros, it is in great order and with the added bonus of being one of the ‘final edition’ RX Edition models with extra spec.

The car has spent most of its life on the salt-free roads of Japan, arriving here in 2016. It has been in storage in recent years, which has preserved the condition. With good bodywork and well kept interior
