A highly developed BMW E39 M5, finished in Le Mans Blue over a bespoke Magnolia leather interior, and built over a number of years into a genuinely well-sorted supercharged example.

This is a car that has been progressively developed with a clear emphasis on performance, usability and reliability, rather than being assembled as a single-stage modification project.

The result is an E39 M5 that retains the analogue character and usability of the original car, while offering a substantial increase in performance.

HISTORY & PROVENANCE

Originally supplied to Northern Ireland, the car has had just three owners from new.

It was initially owned by two keepers in Northern Ireland before being brought to the UK in 2014, where it remained with the same owner for the following years. The car’s long-term ownership history and continuous development are reflected in the extensive documentation and history file accompanying it.

The original factory specification included:

EVOLVE SUPERCHARGED S62 V8

The defining feature of this E39 is the Evolve Automotive Rotrex C38-series supercharger conversion, completed by Evolve in 2019.

Running approximately 4.5–5 PSI, the system produces a verified 529.8bhp, supported by dyno documentation.

Power delivery remains smooth and progressive, retaining the character of the S62 V8 while providing a significant increase in response, acceleration and mid-range performance.

The forced-induction system incorporates:

* CNC-machined billet plenum

* Integrated side-mounted intercooling system

The side-mounted intercooler arrangement was designed to retain the original bodywork without requiring front-end modification.

The Supersprint exhaust provides a purposeful V8 soundtrack while remaining refined enough for normal road use.

ENGINE & MECHANICAL WORK

Before the supercharger installation, the S62 underwent a comprehensive preventative refresh in 2015.

This included:

* Rod bearings

* Timing chains

* Timing chain guides

* Timing chain tensioners

* Complete VANOS rebuild

The VANOS operates smoothly and quietly, with no rattles or known fault codes.

Further servicing was carried out in 2025, including supercharger maintenance, and the car has also been serviced again within the last few hundred miles.

A new battery has recently been fitted.

The engine starts cleanly from cold, idles smoothly and shows no signs of smoke or abnormal noises.

TRANSMISSION

The original 6-speed manual transmission remains fitted.

An uprated clutch was fitted by Evolve Automotive and the car also benefits from a short-shift kit.

Gear selection is precise, with no known synchro issues, while clutch engagement is smooth with no slip.

CHASSIS & HANDLING

The chassis has been comprehensively developed to cope with the additional performance.

The specification includes:

* Full poly-bushed suspension setup

* Intrax suspension components

* Bilstein components

* Eibach anti-roll bars

* Quaife ATB limited-slip differential

The Quaife differential provides improved traction and more consistent power delivery, particularly when putting the additional supercharged performance down.

BRAKES

Braking is handled by a Brembo GT system, comprising:

The system provides strong and consistent braking performance with no known judder.

WHEELS & TYRES

The car sits on 19-inch Cades Apollo alloy wheels in a correct staggered configuration.

The wheels are fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres, with good tread remaining.

The setup is supported by 5mm TPI spacers and 12mm x 1.5 / 32mm tapered wheel bolts, with new BMW centre caps fitted.

A recent professional four-wheel alignment has been carried out and the car drives straight and true.

EXTERIOR

In 2021, the car underwent a full windows-out exterior repaint in its original Le Mans Blue, carried out to a high standard.

All trims and mouldings were replaced with genuine BMW parts during the process.

Following the repaint, the entire car was protected with paint protection film (PPF).

New OEM headlights were also fitted.

A carbon-fibre rear diffuser provides a subtle visual enhancement while retaining the original E39 M5 design language.

The paintwork presents with excellent depth and consistency across the panels, with correct panel fit throughout.

The underside is clean and well preserved, with no known corrosion concerns in the typical E39 areas.

INTERIOR

The interior has been fully retrimmed in bespoke Jaguar Magnolia leather, featuring diamond stitching and BMW embroidery across the seats, door cards and centre console.

The work was carried out to create a high-quality OEM+ environment while retaining the original E39 layout and driving position.

The contrast between the Le Mans Blue exterior and Magnolia interior gives the car a particularly distinctive specification.

A Dynavin N6 system has been integrated into the dashboard, providing modern navigation and connectivity while retaining an OEM-style appearance.

CONDITION

Now showing 100,600 miles, the car reflects long-term enthusiast ownership and continuous investment rather than intermittent or neglected use.

Cold starts are immediate, the engine idles smoothly and the car drives as expected with no warning lights or known faults.

Brake performance is strong and consistent, and tyre condition is good across all four corners.

Despite the additional performance, the fundamental character of the E39 M5 remains intact.

The hydraulic steering, naturally balanced chassis, manual gearbox and rear-wheel-drive layout retain the analogue feel for which the E39 M5 has become so highly regarded.

The supercharger adds another dimension to the S62, delivering considerably more performance without losing the character that makes the original car so special.
