2020 FORD GT

The second-generation Ford GT represents one of the most ambitious performance cars ever created by Ford, conceived as both a technological showcase and a modern interpretation of the legendary GT40. Developed around Ford’s return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the GT made its competition debut in 2016, exactly 50 years after Ford’s historic first victory at the race, with the racing version securing a class win at Le Mans that same year. Its dramatic teardrop-shaped bodywork was dictated by aerodynamics, with distinctive flying buttresses, active aerodynamic elements and extensive use of carbon fibre creating a car whose appearance is as functional as it is unmistakable.

Ford further developed the GT with increased power, improved engine cooling and revised suspension calibration. Its mid-mounted 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 produces 660 hp, and is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission driving the rear wheels. A carbon-fibre monocoque, pushrod-operated suspension with electronically adjustable DSSV dampers, carbon-ceramic brakes and active aerodynamics underline the GT’s uncompromising motorsport-derived engineering, while a titanium Akrapovič exhaust became standard for the 2020 model year. Capable of a top speed of 216 mph, the Ford GT combines extraordinary performance with technology developed directly alongside Ford’s racing programme, creating one of the most significant and technically advanced road cars ever to wear the Blue Oval.
