For sale is my 2006 Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk5, finished in Tornado Red with just 58,550 genuine miles.

This is an original, unmodified 3-door manual car with only two owners from new and a full service history. With so many Mk5 GTIs now having covered considerably higher mileages or been modified over the years, this is a good opportunity to find an original, low-mileage example.

The car starts first time, drives very well and has no warning lights. It has also had a significant amount of recent maintenance, including:

Cambelt and water pump replaced

Recent service

New battery

New lambda (oxygen) sensor

New oil temperature sensor

Sill repair/welding completed

The 2.0 TFSI engine pulls strongly and the manual gearbox operates as it should. The car remains completely standard rather than having been remapped or modified.

The interior is in good condition for its age and mileage.

Cosmetic condition

I want to be completely upfront about the bodywork. The Tornado Red paint is showing its age in places, with lacquer peel on areas of the roof, side/door and some deterioration around the driver's wheel arch. There are also age-related marks to the bonnet and bodywork.

I've deliberately priced the car with this in mind rather than having it repainted before sale. It could be enjoyed exactly as it is, or would make an excellent basis for someone wanting to improve the cosmetics of an otherwise genuine, low-mileage Mk5 GTI.

The important points for me are that it has been kept mechanically sound, has unusually low mileage for a 2006 GTI, a full service history, only two owners and remains unmodified.
