2006 CATERHAM SUPER 7 R300

Reluctant sale, SV chassis Caterham 7 Superlight R300. 1.8 K-series, with 204bhp. I have owned this for the past 11 years, and it has been a great car, well setup for fast road or track with a high spec. Fantastic performance and raw sound.

K-series 1.8 engine, Jenvy ITB's, Acolite forged pistons, proper ported VVC head, big valves, lightweight flywheel, piper ultimate road cams and piper vernier pulleys. Rev wise it's safe to 8500 + and sounds fantastic. Clocked sub 4sec 0-60mph at Dunsfold.

6 speed Caterham gearbox.

The car was built in 2006 (by a chartered mechanical engineer with Ford motor Co). Caterham (Dartford) checked it and organised the SVA test and registered it for the road. The original car was built as a roadsport but Caterham then had it back and modified it to R300 spec (ie 160bhp) - which is documented - The service book is updated accordingly by Caterham.

The engine upgrade to R400 spec was carried out at 8k miles (engine built by a reputable specialist) and has been checked by Dave Andrews (DVA). Performance is now fantastic. In R300 guise it was OK but was difficult to drive in traffic as the roller barrel induction tended to be jumpy. Fitted with Jenvy throttle bodies it is docile in traffic and much easier to control with better fuel consumption. Suspension mods also carried out (AVO adjustable dampers and new springs) have helped to set the car up properly.
