R56 JOHN COOPER WORKS | PERFORMANCE MINI FEATURE CAR | SUSSEX ROAD & RACE BUILD

A car I genuinely never thought I would advertise for sale.

I’ve owned and developed this R56 JCW over a number of years, and anyone who knows the car from @andy_jcw, has seen it at shows and events, or remembers it from its multi-page “Vice & Virtue” feature in Performance MINI magazine, will know the standard to which it has been built.

This isn’t simply a Stage 2 R56 with a collection of aftermarket parts. The aim has always been to create a properly sorted fast-road and track-inspired JCW, with as much attention paid to the chassis, braking, drivetrain and balance of the car as to outright performance.

The car has been built and maintained by Sussex Road & Race, with the suspension and geometry professionally set up by them. It now sits on OZ Superturismo LMs with new Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s and features an extensive collection of RSIC6 carbon, including the full carbon front wings, side skirts, rear diffuser and adjustable rear wing.

Inside are the very rare genuine factory JCW Recaro seats, Coolerworx carbon short shifter and further RSIC6 carbon components. The original rear seats are also included with the car.

It has covered 79,000 miles, has been exceptionally well cared for, and the paintwork has recently received a professional two-stage correction and full ceramic coating by Sportscar Detailing Surrey.

I’m only selling because I simply don’t use it enough anymore. It doesn’t need to be sold, and I’d much rather wait for the right person who understands what it is than sell it quickly.

There is considerably more detail to the car than it’s possible to convey in an advert. It has been developed over a number of years with the focus always being on creating a properly sorted, usable and engaging R56 JCW.

The specification represents well over £15,000 in performance, chassis, carbon and interior upgrades at current replacement cost, before considering the specialist installation, setup and development carried out by Sussex Road & Race.
