2022 Alpina

Sometimes a car is launched that just nails the brief. 300kph on the Autobahn, no problem. Family duties, bring it on. But more than just being an automotive Swiss Army knife, there’s always a deeper, quieter luxury to the way an Alpina goes about its business.

The G20 3-series was a highly capable platform even before Alpina got their hands on it, but it’s fair to say they have taken it to a whole new level. Bespoke twin turbochargers, a unique suspension setup and individual numbering of the cars elevate an already competent platform to a truly exclusive proposition.

B3 Touring No. 505 was built in early 2022 and registered new on the 31 March. No. 505 is a sophisticated configuration that wears a fascinating and almost iridescent shade of BMW Individual Oxide Grey metallic. Indoors, buttery soft black Merino leather abounds with a mid-grey contrast stitch throughout. Combined with a Lavalina leather-trimmed steering wheel and trademark Alpina blue dials, you are always aware that you’re in something special. This 2022 car is a pre-LCI G20 and benefits from not having the dreadful black panel screen that the facelifted cars got. Unusually for an Alpina, No. 505 has been treated to a full application of PPF to ensure that its lustrous paintwork remains blemish-free. This is a huge bonus to the next owner and was installed at a cost of circa £6,000. Its original Deco-Set was removed for this which, to my eye, is preferable.

The odometer displays 47k miles and the car is covered by a BMW extended warranty until 28 May 2027. The service history is of course fully up to date and the next service is required in another 4,000 miles. This is a superb example of an incredibly special motor car. It is in fabulous condition and totally belies its mileage. People often seek a green or blue Alpina, but I’d encourage you to come and see this very special colour in person. The shade moves between grey, with an odd hint of bronze and even a faint blue in some lights; it’s a fascinating colour and thanks to being protected by full PPF, caring for it will be hassle-free. Finally, the vehicle is currently fitted with an M340i front grille however, the original item will be supplied with the car.
